2/24/2024 - phandley66 Likes this wine: 92 pointsHave been holding this in the cellar mostly because was my oldest QC vintage. Didn’t really have high expectations given the age. Beautiful nose, cherry pipe tobacco, musty earth. On palette surprisingly big. Lots of cherry notes, cassis, green pepper. Good finish. Pretty amazing for a 36 year old Washington Cab. Guessing not many of these left in cellars but if so drink up!! |

11/5/2023 - phandley66 Likes this wine: 92 pointsWow. Has really mellowed out in the last 2.5 years since my last bottle. Huge nose of earth and black cherry. Still a lot of menthol, tobbaco on the palette. But alla bit more balanced now. Surprisingly good acidity. Went really well with duck cassoulet. Big finish. Lots of earth and dark cherry on the finish. Should last for a while, but don’t hesitate to drink now. |

8/13/2023 - phandley66 Likes this wine: 89 pointsWas pleasantly surprised by how well this is drinking. Had this bottle and a bottle of the 98 laying in the cellar for years. Have been keeping them more for sentimental reasons than anything, but had assumed they wouldn’t have held up this long. Not a lot showing on the nose, earth/dust, dried red fruit. On the palette, still showing a lot of red fruit, strawberry rhubarb, cherry cola and chocolate. Some alcohol burn on the finish, but not too bad. Wouldn’t recommend aging these 20+ years, but glad I did!! |
