Walla Walla Valley more

Served double blind and nailed it. The reynvaan nose of mineral, florals, sweet fruit and rocks. Nice balance and a wine i really enjoy. Lots of pretty oak but didn't get in the way, love the beef jerky and floral pop.

A beautiful wine from the word go on this wine. Was served double blind and guessed walla walla syrah so felt good about that. Fresh vibrant fruit up front followed by autumn leaves and fresh loam, smoke and pepper. Great structure and finesse. Good example of great straight forward WA syrah.

I've enjoyed Turley Zins for year but now I know why so many people rave about them aged. Boy was this a head turner with loads of fresh earth mineral, veggies, umami, sweet blue and red fruits, gravel, chalk and pepper. The best petit syrah i've ever had hands down.

2010 Saint-Cosme Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Red Rhone Blend more

5/21/2015 - bajayngo wrote: NR

I was taken back a bit when it was revealed to be cdp from St Cosme as most of their wine i've had has been in a more modern style. It was so rustic in structure. Good concentration of dried fruits, basil/fennel, coco dust, cherry and raspberry, celery, sagebrush and long grainy tannins.

2006 M. Chapoutier Ermitage l'Ermite

Hermitage Syrah more

5/21/2015 - bajayngo wrote: NR

Wow did this wine blow me away. I have never had a syrah so rustic and tannic but still came off as varietally correct. Deep dark berries, melted licorice, dust, coffee, celeray seed, horse fur, cherries, coco, seaweed, iron and long grany tannins. Was integrated that of a mature wine but was so complex and was still vibrant. Would have loved to sit down and have with a meal. Thanks for sharing Motz!

Really falling in love with the wines from Produttori. Similar to the Asili that I had the prior week. Lots of tannins to get through followed by rose stems, fresh fennal and star anise, dust, fruit leather and just structure for days. Definitly a food wine. Thanks again olddominion.

Very classically structured brunello here but some much fruit it was amazing. Dust, anise, rose stems and flowers, truffle, tobacco leaf and still great tannins structure. Sweet entry but turns rustic with an tannic finish. Great wine.

Great experience here. Mature and focused still with noticable tannins but more stucture than bracing followed by fresh and dried fennal, rose and stems, cherry fruit leather, herbs, a bit of barnyard and earth. Thanks for sharing olddominion.

2010 Cayuse Syrah Bionic Frog

Walla Walla Valley more

5/21/2015 - bajayngo wrote: NR

Still drinking young but not a sin to open now. Double decanted then slow o'd for a few hours. The classic cornicopia of notes on the nose of mineral, veggies, juniper berries, beef jerky, coffee dust, dill, cherries, blackberry and plum followed by seaweed and a big dose of pepper and baking spices on the finish. Mega mouth feel and finish. I enjoy the Bionic at all stages but am starting to lean toward more aged to show all those secondary characteristics.

Tight, tight, tight! But opened up after a long decant was delicious southern Italian food. Tannins structure galore, with rose and rose stems, anise/fennel, fresh leather, dust, red berry fruit in the back ground and earth. Mouth puckering but married well with sunday gravy with sausage, chicken, pork chops and braciole.

Thick rich and delicious! Had over 3 days and it didn't budge a hair. A bouquet of petrol, fresh honey and honeycomb, white pepper, white flowers, apples, pears. Slightly sweet on the viscous palate with accents of everything from the nose. A great pairing with roasted chicken and broccoli.

Very complexed note when 1st popped. Worchester, soy, potting soil, fresh sage brush, pepper, figs, cured meats just on and one. The palate was high toned and complexed too with a great acid framework with rustic notes throughout. Was a wonderful pairing with steak. On day two it was much more primal with meat, earth and a good does of fennel/anise. Really still drinking young.
