4/30/2024 - ken@ampy.com wrote: 88 points94 Points?? Obviously Robert Parker was Tasting something other than this bottle. Nothing terrible about it, Quite acidic and time does not seem to resolve that. I gave it 88 and that's hoping it will improve over time. Don't bother opening another bottle for 5-7 years, even then I'm not sure it will have resolved the somewhat offputting acidity. 94 points?? complete rubbish, 88 is a stretch. |

11/14/2023 - ken@ampy.com wrote: 93 pointsNice Bottle, no signs of age, still robust with a pungent nose. Some tannins present themselves but the wine is well integrated. Quite enjoyable actually, glad I have more bottles stashed away. I'll give them a few more years although it's drinking well right now. Probably has another 5-10 years of maturation left. No hurry to consume this one. |

11/14/2023 - ken@ampy.com wrote: 95 pointsEnjoyed with a Nice Filet at Flemming's in San Diego. Not showing any noticeable signs of age. Tannins are still present but not obtrusive. I don't think there's any hurry to drink this one up but not much room for further improvement either. Nose is muted on opening but develops nicely. A rich, robust example of a Beckstoffer Cabernet. Enjoy now and for the next 5 years. The cork came out whole using an air pump opener however it was crumbly and broke apart easily. No signs of leakage. |

11/14/2023 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 91 pointsVery nice bottle, some additional age would not be unwarranted but it's drinking well at the moment. Some complexity, subtle nose that develops with some air. A decant for an hour would not be ill advised. I would estimate it'll live nicely for another 10 years, perhaps more. |

2001 Bremer Family MerlotNapa Valley more |
7/28/2023 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 93 pointsConsumed at Park House, San Diego. Still fresh and vibrant, pleasant nose, fully mature but probably no hurry to consume. I have 1 more bottle. My bottles had perfect storage, zero ullage, light sediment. Great depth of flavors, a definite keeper. Bremer is one of my favorite Napa Valley producers, not well known or famous but they produce consistently high quality wines across the spectrum. |

7/28/2023 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 93 pointsConsumed at Flemmings, San Diego. Gave the Sommelier a sip- it was so good he waived their corkage fee. Perfect accompaniment to a Medium Rare Filet and New York Steak. Surprisingly this wine shows no signs of age, still has a bit of Tannin to brag about. I agree with the preceding comments so nothing further is needed, Should live for another 5-10 years. Yummy, Yummy I still have another 5 bottles..Lucky me. |

7/13/2023 - ken@ampy.com wrote: 70 pointsBased on the other tasting notes this has to be a flawed bottle. The initial taste isn't awful but the aftertaste is horrid. I'd call it medicinal at best and it won't dissipate. 5 minutes later and it's still at the back of my mouth, even water won't get rid of it. Poured down the drain. Ugh, even 70 points is a stretch. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (5) |

6/25/2023 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 92 pointsBased on some of the other comments this bottle was a very pleasant surprise. Fully Mature Bordeaux, enticing nose, very well balanced, medium to long finish. PNP at La Maz in National City. No need to decant, minimal sediment, still fresh and vibrant. I'd guess it will hold for a few more years but no need to wait. Quite enjoyable overall. Drink up. It should be noted that this bottle had perfect storage for all it's years which may have contributed to its overall quality. |

6/16/2023 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 91 pointsQuite pleasant for what it is. Definitely a good value offering for it's price point. Quite youthful. I mostly agree with the other comments. Was better after a few hours open in the bottle and some time in the glass. A decant of a few hours might be best. I'll cellar the rest of my bottles for a few more years then revisit. I believe this wine has some upside to it so no hurry to consume the rest of my bottles. |

3/24/2023 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 91 points2017 Vintage. Opens up nicely with some air. Better on day two. Don't think more age will do this much good but won't do it any harm either. Decant for a better experience, probably a hour, maybe two. A nice example of a Valpolicella, true to the type. Good Price Quality ratio, Drink up or cellar. Works either way. |

3/24/2023 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 92 pointsA very pleasant Bottle. A bit closed in PNP but opened up with some air. Much better on day two. No signs of age, vibrant nose and very smooth, No hurry to drink this up but little reason not to as a little Air will put it the sweet spot. |

1995 Villa Mt. Eden Cabernet Sauvignon Grand ReserveNapa Valley more |
2/15/2023 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 93 pointsNo signs of age at 23 tears old, still fresh and vibrant, will probably last another 10 years, maybe longer. Took some time to open up, an hrs decant might be sufficient. Went well with Sirloin and Brussels Spouts at Parkhouse Eatery in San Diego. Wish I had more but I believe this bottle was a loner. No hurry but quite enjoyable now with a little air. Cork appeared good but crumbled with a Corkscrew. An Air Pump cork Extractor might have been a better option. |

2019 Royal Prince Cabernet Sauvignon ReserveNapa Valley more |
2/6/2023 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 93 pointsThis is young and needs time. Gave it a 2 hour decant. Opened up nicely but I won't be tempted to open another bottle for a few years. This was the Reserve Bottling, not the regular. There's a substantial difference. This one has a lot going for it typical of a Napa Cabernet. Hope I live long enough to see it reach its peak. It has all the superlatives normally associated with a top tier Napa Cabernet. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

11/28/2022 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 90 pointsNo need to hurry with this one. Still sporting some tannins, improves with time, probably needs a decant for an hour or more. Nose subdued but emerges with time. Lots of depth here, might make 92-93 with a few mores years in the cellar. Fruit is sort of buried but it's there. Overall a credible effort. |

2004 Montes Alpha MColchagua Valley Red Bordeaux Blend more |
11/27/2022 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 90 pointsSurprisingly youthful, still some tannins to brag about. Did not find the wine to be very interesting at this stage of development. Probably needs another 5 years in the bottle. I'd say it has the potential to age into something quite agreeable. At the moment I'd say it's a bit rugged and confused. It did open up some with time. I rated it 90 for potential, 85 if we're talking about todays drinkability. |

11/22/2022 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 91 pointsNo signs of age, light sediment, still some tannic presence. Likely could last another 10 years. Obtained as a Christmas gift in 1999 , been aging in my cellar since then. Muted nose, layered flavors, not an Oaky wine at all. Went quite well with a spicy Chicken Birani dish. Wish I had more but this was a singleton. Would benefit from a 30 minute decant, was actually better on day 2. |

2012 Serene Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon AnticipationNapa Valley more |
11/19/2022 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 91 pointsStill some tannins present, a pleasant wine all around. Enjoyed with a Curried Chick dish which it stood up to quite well. PNP day one, nose opened up a bit on day 2 after being closed in. Some depth and layering here, it should easily survive another 5 to 10 years with proper storage. No hurry to consume this one, still has some aging potential. Wish I had more but this was a gift some years ago and has been in my cellar since. |

11/8/2022 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 92 pointsStill young and evolving. No hurry to consume this one. Shows great promise, squirreling away my remaining bottles, will revisit in 2025 or beyond. My guess is this will last at least 20 years and beyond that with proper storage. Likely will pick up a few more points on the rating scale over time. Very credible effort. |

9/27/2022 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 91 pointsNice bottle, went well with roasted chicken and pasta fettuccini at Pizza Bella in San Diego. No real signs or age but fully resolved. No point in waiting any longer. Nose did develop over the hour we consumed it. Medium to full bodied, medium long after taste. Nothing to rave about but a very nice example of the genre. Wish I had more but this was a singleton. Not sure where I got it or how long it's been in the cellar, years probably. |

9/27/2022 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 91 pointsSeems fully mature, I'd say medium body, well resolved Tannins, muted nose PNP that developed over the next hour. Not a Fruit forward effort but quite enjoyable. Don't think there's much room for improvement, Still no rush to drink it up either. Not showing any signs of age, still fresh and vibrant. Probably will last another 5-7 years if you're so inclined. I have a few more bottles, will try another in a year or so. Went well with a Rare top sirloin and Brussels with Bacon. |

9/27/2022 - ken@ampy.com wrote: 92 pointsVery nice St-Julien. Closed in on opening, probably needs a hour or so decant. Opened up as the evening progressed. Not a "Big" wine, more feminine in nature but still delightful. Became well integrated with some air. No signs of age in this bottle, should hold up well for another 5-10 years if you're so inclined however it's quite drinkable now with some air. Wish I had more but sadly, this bottle was a loner. Not sure where I got it or how long I've had it. Bon Appetite!! |

9/14/2022 - ken@ampy.com wrote: 90 pointsDeep, Dark and compelling. Very nice rendition of a Syrah. No signs of age in this bottle but it's ready to drink. Probably needs a decant of 30 minutes or so to open up. Continued to evolve into some complexity with air time. No flaws noted. Enjoy if you have any. Nice accompaniment to hearty fare, would overwhelm a more sophisticated dish, Pasta, Beef, Lamb would be ideal. |

2002 Carini Cabernet Sauvignon Oakvillemore |
9/14/2022 - ken@ampy.com wrote: 89 pointsCork held together on this bottle. None of the flaws previously noted. Not a typical Merlot, more like a Syrah. Muted nose opened up with some air. Drink it now if you have any in your cellar. Don't believe there's much upside from here for this bottle. Enjoyable but not exceptional in any way. |
