11/20/2015 - DaddyO wrote: 96 pointsAbsolutely loved this wine...picked it up around 9 years ago at a steal of a price and finally opened with expectations that it would be Run Rig's little brother. Perhaps even better as a tremendous combination of earthy and dark fruit with and exceptional mouth feel. |

12/6/2012 - DaddyO Likes this wine: NRSecret Santa Gift 2012: Extremely dark and viscous...flavor profile mirrored color with heavy fruit and a chewy structure. A plummy licorice on the font palate and a fairly long finish...finish was much more balanced on day #2. I'm a big fan of Central Coast Syrah's and this one did not disappoint. The cabernet blend added a dimension that perhaps would suggest another couple of years and/or a longer decant for many but I'm actually a big fan of that upfront power. |

2009 Five/Five Wines Cabernet Sauvignon Simone 75% Black Sears, 25% Ink GradeHowell Mountain more |
7/15/2012 - DaddyO wrote: NRA bit nondescript upon opening, however that belies the true nature of this wine. After 1.5 hours open (not decanted) this cabernet comes alive with rich plum, cassis, a bit of bright blackberry current on the mid palate followed by a wonderful brown sugar/caramel finish. Round and soft tannins with NO angularity whatsoever...rounded out with a pleasing creamy smokiness. This wine doesn't require age but clearly will age and is a tremendous example of the transformative effect of a purposeful breathing/decanting. Go somewhere else for your fruit bomb...this wine is new world refinement in the vein of Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck...you can't help but be mesmerized. |

4/10/2012 - DaddyO Likes this wine: 89 pointsMost interesting Pinot i've had in awhile. If i had drunk blind i might have concluded it was a grenache blend with viognier. |

4/8/2012 - DaddyO wrote: 92 pointsVery Dark with garnet edges...pre barnyard nose with strong heat and what i can only describe as an earthen red fruit nose...graphite, leather, licorice and an ever so slight mint finish with slightest hint of mocha. Still full heat in the mid palate and finish. Tannins are pleasant and work well with a marbled steak. |

11/16/2010 - DaddyO Likes this wine: 95 pointsFantastic! Refined tannis (on the heavy side) with pleasing blueberry earth/leather mouth feel. Somewhat of a brutish elegance. I would want to reconsider pairings for next bottles...I envision an elk backstrap possibly. |

11/3/2010 - DaddyO wrote: NRBit of a blood red color with a leathery nose...an interesting tartness with a minty touch along with plum skin. Still trying to get my palate around aged wines. Not sure i'd put this in the "well aged" category but it was an interesting endeavor. |

2005 Spencer Roloson Syrah La HerraduraNapa Valley more |
9/20/2010 - DaddyO Likes this wine: 92 pointsAlmost 1 year since prior tasting and my affection for this wine has not waned. There is a meatiness to it that intoxicates (clearly a strong presence of oak and corresponding creaminess)...the combination of the creamy texture with a tart/raspberry taste/aromatic is intoxicating to me. WHEN...not if...i produce a syrah, there is a character in this wine that allows me a benchmark for the range i'm looking for. Normally don't assign a score but this syrah is solid for me. |

3/18/2010 - DaddyO wrote: NROk...that's it...i'm officially a pinot/burgandy fan...it's taken me awhile and but i'll give the Siduri credit. the elegance and post dining aromatics have got me...i don't feel like i need the beefy meal to pair...this truly paired with the evening rather than the food per se... |

1/2/2010 - DaddyO wrote: NRThis wine may earn the distinction of converting me to Pinot's...the wine itself did not truly stand out until paired with a series of five different cheeses...the creamier the cheese...the meatier the wine developed until it created a pate' like experience. This wine gets the credit of giving me thoughts on how to approach Pinot in the future...here, here... |
