Palate: Aged cassis, thick blueberry skin, parchment from an old library, chalky earth, faded cedar, candied cherry on the finish. Interestingly, this was incredible right out of the bottle, but hours later (and the next day) the iron-rich minerality and mellowing fruit weren't as harmonious. |

Palate: Tart sour red cherry, slight tangyness, red currant, tannins coat the gums yet feel dissonant against the lighter medium overall body of the wine. Nice sweet cherry on the finish. Given more time to open up, the tangyness is replaced with smokey cranberry. Definitely an affordable bottle for the region ($20), but its flavor simplicity and lack concentration makes it feel like your'e getting what you pay for and nothing more. |

Sadly, I never picked up the earthy rusticity that I found in this wine a month ago. |

Palate: Tart cassis, sour red plum, dark cherry, heavy dose of rustic weathered wood, scorched earth, playdoh; dense mouthfeel and creamy tannins, high acid; with more coaxing there's some mossy cedar and even root beer. Undoubtedly a complex wine and enjoyable now, but certainly has the foundation to improve and last for a very long time. Held up well over three days with it shinning brightest on day two. |
