More body and more expressive in aromas and flavors than my recollection of the tasting room sample at release. Medium body. Medium acid. Bright, slightly early in the drinking window for me. Stop-and-savor level delicious and complex. Cherry compote, pomegranate, thyme, sage, blood orange, earthy paprika, and fennel or tarragon especially lingering on the finish. Excellent balance across the palate. Maybe another 2-3 years to peak. Paired well with oily rich grilled local king salmon. Day 2 after a night open in the fridge was disconcerting, sour and thin until it warmed up, had me second-guessing. |

Dark golden hue. Medium+ body. Ginger, praline, caramel, galangal, marzipan, vanilla, baked quince, lemon curd aromas and flavors with subdued mineral eucalyptus backbone and finish. Not oakie or buttery. I would have guessed it's about 3 years older. Delicious but I could see the tertiary notes being polarizing. |
