2014 d'Arenberg Shiraz The Footbolt

McLaren Vale more

Initial scents of berry in the bottle. Soft scent overall. Decanted and Venturied. Sweet soft scent of chocolate on the nose. Pour in large red wine glass, lush deep velvet red colour. Good clarity when held to the light. Swirl in glass leaves lovely residue on the sides that stays a while before slowly drifting down to the wine in the glass. Smelling in glass discovers blueberry and blackberry scents. Taste: ever so smooth, subtle berry flavours with slight sweet tones (not tart or acidic). Beautiful chocolate overtones. Drinks like perfection. Medium to full bodied but full of flavour. Warming alcohol content. Well worth the 10 year wait!

2018 1813 Wines Shiraz The Governor Single Vineyard

Hunter Valley more

Tasting Notes from 1813:
The Governor, our flagship Reserve Shiraz, is truely Hunter, powerful, elegant and restraint. Only released in the very best of years, sourced from estate grown fruit matured in the finest French and American oak. It is further refined and delicately blended. Intense dark cherries and charred oak aromas refreshed by crunch acidity, provide the Governor with age ability or contemporary enjoyment.

Earth Brown with a lovely rich smooth texture that has pleasant caramelised characters, integrate with fruit pudding, brandy sauce and toffee nuances.

Ideal with chocolate and coffee to finish off any meal.

Will become richer with careful cellaring

Can be serve in a warm glass to allow the bouquet to evolve into a more dominant experience for those winter evenings or relax with a chilled glass in summer for a more delicate palate sensation.
