Was still a nice ruby color showing some tinges of brown to go with its age. The nose was actually quite floral. The texture was extremely light with very little going on. This wine was definitely several years (or more) beyond prime. |

3/5/2010 - srosenhek Likes this wine: 89 pointsThe cork, although soaked through has held for 29 years and came out intact. The wine is just started showing some brown tinges on its edge but has maintained a nice color and is quite bright. The body has held and the tannins are well integrated. beautiful legs coat the glass. Some fruit still present but is quite integrated into a more earth/wood flavor. Probably several years past its prime, but for a 1981 (not a great Margaux vintage) this wine is quite enjoyable. |

2/28/2010 - srosenhek Likes this wine: 89 pointsStill has a floral nose and some berries. Round with a small amount of tannin which breaks down quickly. Has aged nicely. 30 minutes of decanting made the wine very smooth and soft |

2005 Château Haut-Brisson La GraveSt. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend more |

Opened in a decanter for 30+ minutes and tannins broke down quickly and the wine picked up more volume and body. As it opened it developed a warm/natural taste of vanilla/brown sugar blended with a natural earthy flavor. The berries faded There is a very nice lingering finish. The strength of the 2005 vintage shows. Paid $24 |
