Herbs like sage and rosemary. Sweet tobacco, sweet liquorice, dark chocolate. After half an hour it's wide open with the finest of old jammy notes - strawberries, raspberries and cherries. All in all, brilliant! We taste: yes, this is good! We get an impressive concentration and intensity, slender mouthfeel, good acids and a really long aftertaste. The tannins are silky smooth, the fruit still youthful and supported by liquorice. Not even the slightest hole in the middle. A suberb taste that reverberates for minutes! |

There's still punch left in this beauty but it's drinking well, with a classic old world palate, terrific balance and a wonderful perfumed finish. |

Just the slightest bit soapy, though everything weaves together nicely. Smooth and silky on the palate. More classic and elegant than the more modern nose suggests. This is really firing tonight with character, depth and intensity. It also finishes well. I see no reason to hold it more than another year or two as, while it will last a while, I cannot see it getting any better. (92) |

Initially the palate was light and flavorful (predominantly tobacco), but kind of thin and lacking persistence. As the wine opened in the decanter over dinner, it really put on weight and had improved greatly after 90 minutes. Palate now showed red fruits and interesting minerality, which was complemented (as opposed to dominated) by the tobacco. 87 right out of the bottle, but had improved nicely to the above score by the time we finished. |

Everything was there : a nice red pure color, a nice complex nose, with hints of all the classics( but only hints), a nice, smooth wellbalanced taste, with a nice semi-long finish, again with classic notes of fruit, minerals and earthy stuff. BUT everything was a bit muffelled, a bit difficult to extract. Maybe everything blossoms in a 2-4 years or so. I´ve still got some bottles, so I wait, hopefully to see a more expressive wine. |
