Transparent mörk rödlila färg. Otrolig parfymerad doft. Körsbär, blåbär, kardemumma, nejlika, citronskal, mynta. Väldigt piggt och fräscht. Markerad syra, lätt och fin munkänsla. Tanniner väldigt markerade, väl kraftfulla för min smak i detta skedet.

Gave this a splash decant and rest for 20+ minutes. This is great, oak, mineral, orchard fruits, lots of tension. Obviously young but this chard hit my sweet spot! Yet to have one with age but the future is bright here at WS.

Corked - Noticing from notes that the last bottle had some funk as well. I'm hoping I didn't get a bad six-pack.

This bottle was a superbly aged bottle that showed luscious dried fruit and smooth brambles. It it drinking extremely well and was preferred over the 2017 by the three of us. It just gave that warm satisfying feeling as you drank it.

Champagne Uchiko dinner. We drank this in a flight with Krug '95, 2000, and NV. The '02 was much more vibrant and alive than the other two vintage bottles, with more depth and nuance. Incredible mouth feel and balance. Almond, almond paste, meyer lemon, biscuits. Very long finish. This seems to just be coming into a VERY good place. It should hold and evolve for many more years.

A fine NdM from a renowned producer, a pleasure to return and taste this single vineyard production of pure Sangiovese farmed from 50 year old vines. Aged separately in Slavonian oak for 18 months and 12 months in a bottle. Medium+ ruby colour. Medium+ intensity aroma of cherries, tobacco, undergrowth, leather, strawberries, dried rose petals. Medium+ body, lively structure, racy and pleasantly austere, medium+ acidity, bright fleshy and fresh red fruit flavours, earthy and smoky notes, firm tannic structure.

Always a pleasure to come back to this Italian Merlot gem, grown organically, vinified with native yeast in cement vats, matured for 18 months in FR oak barrels, 33% new, frequent batonnage for first 6 months. Intense rich aroma of blackberries, violets, cassis, plums, roses, herbal hints. Full body, as always I am amazed by elegance and finesse of this Italian Merlot, full of black fruits, but never too dense or overpowering, also smoky, earthy and herbal notes, medium+ acidity, finely woven medium+ tannins.

We had it at our last night in Termini, close to Sorrento. Lovely wine with outspoken nose of manderin and marzipan. Good structure and balance. Can keep or drink. Nice example of southern italian wine

In this bottle the fruit was showing very bright and forward. Blueberry and blackberry with lucious mouth. It was a really good example of this wine.

Opened and poured, lightly chilled.
Half bottle.

Served to accompany monkfish.

Light silvery gold.
Apples, pears on the nose.
This is really at its peak now. Well balanced palate, plenty of fruit, pears, oranges. And quite long.
Very good.

Quite a lot of co2 from the bottle give this a semi-sparkling feel.
But fear not fellow drinker, the co2 soon dissipates and allows the wine to show everything that it got!

Flinty, salty, high - very high acidity, sweet core with yellow fruits.
This is a fantastic wine!

Nice structured, lively Morgon. Still a lot of fruit and freshness after 4 years, tannic stricture and acidity still stands. So will develop more the next couple years.

This is a very charming wine, but lacking complexity at this stage of its life. It needs lots of air to come alive, and I decanted this for 7 hours. It has a decent nose, and the burst of red cherry front palate is impressive. However, it doesn't follow through on the rest of the wine, lacking depth, and with a clipped finish. I would imagine that this will improve with age, but unlike some 2009s which are deeply seductive at present.

I found a second bottle of this vintage and, after failing to enjoy the last bottle a few months ago, thought we should try it.
A little more time in bottle (and a few hours after opening) has led to improvement.
Medium dry - not too sweet. It has tropical fruit, acidity, and some apricotty Viognier characteristics. Simple but OK for the low price.

Ripe red fruit, some spices, very fruity and not a lot of structure. As much as I like their white wines, their reds are not better as their level.

A nice Cab that shows good balance and smooth flavors. Not complex but shows depth of flavors. Not the 92 that Wine Enthusiast gave it but a nice value. Not likely a wine for long term storage.

Wildly spicy and powerful, on the nose. And linear on the plate, focused. has some proud oak standing through.
Red
Has that spicy cinnamon thing going on, need to taste more.

Way more mature than my previous bottle (Nomarcork-variation, eh). There is still fruit and it is by no means tired but it has dried up to a certain extent and lacks the depth and vibrancy of the previous bottle. Not bad but not something I would rebuy either.

Stunning nose with cherries that immediately jumps out of the glass, later a lot of spices. Intense and medium to full bodied with black cherries, minerals and perhaps darker fruits ending in a long finish. It has some power but the elegance of the cherrie flavors are superb. A charming Charmes and for me a favourite kind of wine.

Served around 55°F. The cork looked all kinds of nasty underneath the capsule but I was able to extract it, intact, with the help of a Durand. I then poured the bottle into a decanter about 30min prior to service. At the ripe age of 41, the 1983 pours a deep gold with a transparent core; medium viscosity with some slight signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of baked stone fruits: peach, apricot, marmalade, hazelnuts, baked lemon, and those gummy peach rings. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is creamy, buttery. I thought this was a lovely, mature Corton Charlemagne and while it is very much alive, its life-force is fading. Drink now.

Surprisingly lovely wine! It's ready to go with cherries and bright acidity at PNP but did actually benefit from time. I would certainly order more of this. It's a wonderful food friendly wine at a good QPR.

Part of an evening of Samsara Pinot and Syrah, focused on the 2014 vintage with a couple of add-ons, this was the final Pinot poured, and it stood head and shoulders above the three really fine wines that preceded it. I kept some of this wine in an extra glass through the rest of the tasting, and kept going back to it, even while drinking the Syrah flight, and it stayed clear of the pack. Still only medium bodied, this had an extra level of depth - not richness, just depth. The fruit was stronger, the acid structure perfectly polished - the wine was put together like a race car. There was not a single thing out of place, and everyone at the table had this as their wine of the night. Amazing wine that has a long, long future ahead of it.

Popped and poured. 88% Pinot Noir, 12% Chardonnay, 49% from Sonoma, 29% from Mendocino, 15% Napa, 7% Marin county fruit from the North Coast AVA. 24% barrel fermented, with 9.2 g/L of dosage.

Pale gold in the glass, with fine bubbles throughout. On the nose it leaps out at you with sea spray, guava skin, and almond confections. Really delicious and complex nose that I could smell for hours. On the palate it’s got orange, ripe peach, yellow pear, and ginger/Christmas spice. It’s medium bodied, with medium high acidity. The finish is long, crisp, and minerally.

Delicious and a perfect complement to completing a master’s degree. Certainly one of the premier sparkling wines from the US.

Super interesting on the nose. Textured and full on the palate with a touch of funk. It's really interesting, but would you finish a bottle?

Part of an evening of Samsara Pinot and Syrah, focused on the 2014 vintage with a couple of add-ons, this bottle was just as good as the prior two, but had the unfortunate luck to be served alongside the 2014 Lotus which was amazing. From a development standpoint this was exactly in line with the 2014 Rancho la Vina. There was a bit of additional spice in this wine, which actually felt a touch out of place with the overall profile. Anyway, I would never turn down a glass of this, it just got its ass kicked by the Lotus.
Rosé
Easy does it, tasting and drinking just fine.
Rosé
Almost no information on the can, except that it’s a rosé wine and that it’s from California. I guess the best you could say is that the wine isn’t obviously flawed, but that’s about it.

Part of an evening of Samsara Pinot and Syrah, focused on the 2014 vintage with a couple of add-ons, this was the first of the 2014s to be poured, and alongside the 2021 Rancho la Vina it was an excellent way to track how the wines evolve. Bricking a little bit on the edge, I expected the wine to be more developed, but in general it still had very fresh red fruit, and retained some of that floral stem influence. The balance was excellent, and the flavors fanned out well on the finish. There really wasn't anything to quibble about, except maybe a dash of heat on the finish, but even that subsided after the wine was in my glass for a few extra minutes. If this is how the wines age then they have potential for excellent longevity.

Part of an evening of Samsara Pinot and Syrah, focused on the 2014 vintage with a couple of add-ons, this was actually the first wine poured, and stylistically was in the same vein as the other Pinot Noirs. Immediate hit of red fruit and floral on the nose. I looked at the host and asked if he knew if they used any whole cluster, and he said yes. No excess or green element from it, just an added level of aromatic complexity. Like all the Pinots, this was light on tannin, but had significant acid structure. Open and enjoyable, the translucent, pale red color didn't reflect the concentration of flavor which was significant, without any sense of being overdone or heavy. Excellent wine that has a real future.
