Wow, this is Sauvignon Blanc, through and through, even with some slight herbal elements. Very fresh and lively. I'm not sure if I like this as much as the Gruner and Riesling, but it might be more fun, because of the explosive SB flavors and aromatics.

A light, savory Syrah, 13% abv,, good fruit, light smooth tannins, drank with pot roast with potato salad, 43 E on Viking wine list, would drink again.

Our host thought this was past its peak, and that the champignons took over. I only half-agree - there's definitely a lot of signs of aging (which feels early for this wine?), but it's nicely layered, and the primary fruit is still noticeable. I quite enjoyed this wine, but it's probably time to drink up.

Beautiful nose of turmeric and a squint of lemon. The palate is well-composed with good breadth and grip. It has classical restraint and great balance. A pitch perfect BB.

I believe this is called Brut Reserve in the US. Richer aromatics. Yellow apples on the nose. This is really nice, but it's so cool to get the purity of the grape on the other wines, which makes me not as excited about this. It's quality Brut sparkling wine.

Slow ox for about 5 hours. Bramble, cherry and hibiscus on the nose. Elegant bouquet with good depth and complexity. On the palate notes of red cherry, ripe forest berries, rose petals, rooibos tea, herbal essence, sous bois, crushed rock, leather and fresh soil. Remained on the elegant, rather reluctant side. Long aftertaste and good persistence. Very delicious. Drink or hold

Agree with others that this is likely in transition, and that it is currently more impressive than delicious. More backbone and class than the 2009. Great balance, it’s all there in the right percentages. And a long finish. If you can, wait for 3-5 years with this one. You’ll be proud of yourself if you do.

Fresh, with Gruner aromatics, that makes you want to keep taking a sniff. It's so fresh and lively. I really love how the flavors and even essence of Gruner are all through this, but it's still a high quality sparkling wine. Really cool stuff. 91-93

Let it air about an hour. Medium gold, on 👃 honeycomb, limestone, oyster (shell & salinity), fresh lemon zest, lilacs, nectarines. Apple & nectarines, high & long throat burn with long finish on fruits and flowers. Yummy!

Served blind. My first guess - only by the nose - brought me towards a serious Gamay, but the taste didn't support that thought. Clean, fresh, light; like this a lot.

Ikke dekantert. Herlig flaske, balanse, lavmælt, nyderlig frukt, 12,5 % alkohol, nesten ikke til å tro. Jakt på mer.

Served blind, no one was even close to guessing this was Rioja (although in hindsight, the mint-y freshness in the aftertaste should really have given it away) .. Energetic, long, and serious, without ever being overpowering. I don't think I've ever had a Rioja like this before.

Fantastic Alexander valley cab with old world restrained balance of fruit and tannins. Shows some age and complexity now, integrated fruit, some of the wonderful creamy crushed black currant fruit, velvety fine but yet structured tannins underbrush, minerality with good acidity.

This is still incredibly young, of course, but surprisingly open and approachable. Flowers, roses, spice, and just a lot of depth. Would love to try this again in ten years time.

Pure and clear ruby red colour. Very inviting and harmonious aroma of red berries: Cherry, strawberry, also slightly jammy red plum. Subtly vanilla-like in the background. A little earthy, but this may be due to the fact that my bottle has been in the cellar for two years and could be showing first tertiary notes. Showing well. Slender body with light alcohol (12.0%) and velvety tannins. Hardly drying and with good drinking flow, whereby the subtle acidity ensures that the wine does not come across as too sweet or cooked. The palate is again red-fruity (fresh cherry, redcurrant, raspberry). Little complexity and somewhat short on the finish, the focus was probably clearly on the "drinkability". Accordingly, this vintage cuvée flows pleasantly and should also appeal to those who tend to shy away from "bigger" red wines. Limited ageing potential. (My note is for AP number 425724601920, which is not the most recent "Vintages" edition on the market.)

3 hr decant, thanks to other contributors’’ comments. Primary nose notes quite sharp, but it was well integrated after we waited. Camphor, liquorice, menthol? - all back of tongue but good acidity on the palate. Really interesting and subtle flavour/ texture combinations, with good structure.

A Visit to Paul D: I believe this is the 2nd vintage of this wine. In the United States, it's called Hand Werk. It has richer aromatics than the regular bottling, and in fact a little more of everything, but I'm not sure how much better it is. It's tough, because the entry level bottling is so good.

Not much sign of ageing, still vibrant mid red.
Lifted rose petals, red onion, pine, herbs.
Balanced and fresh, medium bodied, persistent fine nebbiolo tannins. Just opening up, should go until 2030+ with no problems.

Nice gentle riesling in an easy-going, round style. Nicely mature, a hint of petrol, good persistance and a long-lasting finish. Good job!

How is the 2016 not reviewed yet? Are people still waiting?

This is great. Just popped it. So much going on for a very reasonably priced Médoc. Sweet Blackberry/Black Cherry, juicy, the savoury eventually comes in - tobacco leaf, wood, espresso, spice, cherry stone, and drying powdery grip. The mid-palate's richness drops away quickly, which leaves a slight gap between the middle and finish, which is medium/long; but the overall effect is engaging. The body is light/middle weight, but the concentration is good. Enough acid to take it through to the early 2030s I'd guess, but I'm no expert.

If you can afford fairly posh wine, this is a good mid-week cheapy. If you can't much afford 'posh' wine, this is worth pushing the boat out for.

Recommend.
