Notes of black currants, blueberries, leather, luxurious oak. Expressive nose with plenty of fruit still. Excellent structure. PnP no decant necessary.

Thirty minute double decant. Deep dark hazy ruby magenta color. Boysenberry, parsley, white chocolate, and perhaps subtle eucalyptus. Smooth, dry palate. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.

This has not gotten any better since my last bottle. It’s solid for its price point, but has a more herbal character than I like.

Really complex and very inviting on the nose; you can really smell the barrel. As it opens, you can smell and taste black pepper, leather and rich dark fruit. Deep ruby color with luscious legs; so deep and luscious you’d think it’s a cab. But it’s a proprietary blend (which, I must admit, scared me a bit at first as I opened it). Not overly tannic and very well-balanced. I tasted this at Caves at Soda Canyon and liked it enough to order some to cellar. Glad I did. I forgot what a nice wine this is for the price.

The fruit was muted a bit in this blend. I had expected a bit more richness of flavor. It lacked the vibrancy I had hoped for. Not sure where this will go over time. It seems the Syrah is dominant over the Cabernet in this blend as I got more savory notes than fruit. Dark berry and oak influenced. A bit tannic.

Two hour decant (needs 3-4). Very deep ruby magenta color. Black cherry compote, cinnamon graham cracker, charred red plum, and subtle fennel on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with nice pixelated acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.

This is a nice smaller production Coombsville Cab. It’s a bit more red fruited than I like. It kept improving over an hour of drinking, which speaks to the quality.

Coravined. Deep dark ruby color. Dark raspberry, underripe blackberry, white chocolate dreamsicle, and nutmeg on the nose. Very smooth, dry, full bodied palate, with nice acidity. Very firm, full tannins on the surprisingly long finish.

There’s a touch of potential built into my score. This really needs a two hour decant, but it was quite accessible with little air. Small production and all Coombsville fruit. Tasted at Mia Carta in Napa.

Coombsville Vintners and Growers Accociation (Napa): $90 retail, first time tasting this producer, lovely, rich, good acid.

Surprisingly forward for a Sciandri. Ripe and nearly sweet berry notes. Still, the quality of fruit is there and there is enough licorice and earth to keep things interesting. Drink near term due to its easy approachability.

Wow! Not sure what I was expecting but great with a smoked tri-tip. Sciandri pulled off this blend beautifully.

Pleasant wine with a nice nose and palate, but not a lot of expression. The nose has aromas of black pepper, sage and toast. On the palate, layers of blueberries, red figs and mint. The tannins are still firm and acidity is there, but it lacks depth and mouthfeel.

Aerated into glass, drank over three hours. A big cab that is still very young, and outstanding. Our second and last bottle of these. Totally worth it.

Still young and burly. 65 cab, 35 syrah, have always liked those varieties together. A little more age time to smooth it out even more would bump it up another notch.

This was at once big but finely balanced. Raspberry sauce and blackberry. Vibrant, ripe, but again balanced. Special stuff.

Deep purplish ruby red. A bit herbal with flowers, dark berries, cocoa, spiced, minerality and blackberries on the nose. Still a baby with tight tannins (7.5/10) and a bit of acidity and full bodied. Dark berries on the palate, with some blueberries, baking spices, tons of minerality and pepper. Long finish. Drink till 2030.

Two hour decant, the nose has tobacco and dark fruit with a palate that starts out slightly muted and a little tart but really blossoms with a little more time in the glass so give this plenty of air in the decanter. This opens up even more when paired with food, a certain level of sweetness comes out that is very enjoyable. A medium mouthfeel with a longer finish makes this a very good bottle.

Superb, absolutely stunning! Classy, tight, focused aroma of mineral and ripe black cherry. Beautiful structure and mouthfeel. A bit tight. Linear now but should fanout nicely over time. Aroma, flavor profile and structure was reminiscent of a top estate from Pessac, cross between circa 2005 and 2009 style with ripe clean Napa Valley fruit. Should age beautifully!

Appearance on this thing is a light pale yellow color. On the nose, freshly cut grass and green apples. On the palate, citrus, lemons, and some zest to it. More of a light bodied white on the palate even though it's heavy on alcohol for a white. 14.2%. A very good sauv blanc.

This is way sweeter than I am used to in a Cabernet, but it is finely tuned to carry it well. Beautiful spicy nose of raspberries, blackcurrants and cedar. The palate carries sweet raspberries, plums and blackcurrant, chocolate, vanilla, cinamon, cloves and nutmeg. The fruit is intense, but the balance is good. It has a bright acid profile and its fine tannins paint the mouth, driving a long and juicy finish. Not everyone’s style, but a real crowd pleaser that goes very well with roast meats, particularly fatty lamb. A wine for Winter.

Opened a couple bottles for a home tasting in March. Still excellent. Honestly not a fan of blending Syrah and Cab but this works well. Sciandris are some of the best people in Napa and know how to please their following. Please keep price and quality relative.

This cab is RIDICULOUS. Poured a dark maroon into the glass. Nose of herbs (more like a sage), black pepper, blackberry, grilled meat, and grape bubblegum. The entry is fruit forward, but only a bit. Purple and black fruits, oregano, lavender. The middle of the wine is quite silky. Hint of cola. The wine finishes a little acidic. Although the tannin are rather soft and showed some integration after decanting for 3 hours, the wine is still youthful and will certainly improve over the next 10-15 years. This is a locked up MONSTER of a wine. Glad I have two more of these.

Of course, while I'm drinking this I'm mentally comparing to Altamura. At $50, it's a ridiculous steal. Syrah/Cab blend. Loads of roasted plum, mocha and rich oaky character. A winner for certain.

OMG! This wine is drinking beautifully. Great with food.

Big wine with dark fruits and a distinct tobacco ash aromatic component. Very lush, elegant, and balanced. A beautiful wine. Give it an hour to open up to its potential.

This is a big wine. Dry, rich, cherry skins, blackberry jams, and tobacco at this point, with a fantastic, long finish. It definitely mellowed after a while -- let it breathe a bit before diving in. Great with rich bold food, but I'm also enjoying a glass after dinner on the patio with a smidge of dark chocolate. This wine will cellar well, but who wants to wait? Yum, thanks RyanS!

Color: ruby, vibrant, with a dark core. Nose of currant, cranberry and a flinty minerality or smoky density (think: food with dark tomato sauce). In the mouth, lives up to the promise of the nose, with a density that promises great, complex flavors when it ages. Finish is good but feels closed and a bit off for now. Should age into a well integrated, balanced food wine.

Dark ruby color. Nose: bottled black cherry, blueberry, blackberry, and dried redcurrant with accents of tobacco, cedar, dates, roses/violets, baking spices, dark chocolate, vanilla, and licorice root. Medium/full body on the palate: bottled black cherry, blueberry, black raspberry, and dried redcurrant framed by tobacco, baking spices, licorice root, dark chocolate, vanilla, black tea, and crushed rock. Medium+ acidity. Moderate tannins. Lingering black cherry skin, tobacco, baking spices, and crushed rock on the long finish. Supremely elegant dinner wine. Bordeaux-esque in a very good way. Pair with roast duck, grilled pork chops, mushroom-sauced filet mignon, or roast pork tenderloin. Drink over the next 4-6 years.

Getting a little more oak this time around. Didn't let it open as I have been anxious to drink wine the last 4 days.

Deep and dark red - purple almost. Nose of Napa but not as pronoucned as a more popular/distinguished sub region. Nose was dark fruits and cassis. some hints of vanilla. palette was slightly astirngint or "alcholly" which did subside but kind of hung around in after notes after 45 minutes of being opeend. Good wine but didn't knock my socks off. I would cellar for at least another 3 years.
