Red
2008 Domaine Bernard Baudry Chinon Les Grézeaux France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon
Not an overabundance of Loire funk. Lot's of bright red cherry with a hint of Cab Franc wild seedy blueberry. Some really nice floral perfume but this is just too young to be integrated fully. I will TRY to wait a couple of years before the next one.
Red
2005 Domaine Roblet-Monnot Bourgogne Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Bourgogne

A fooler because of the dominance of dark cherry fruit and above average extraction. Wild guesses ranged from Spanish Grenache to Italian Sangiovese or maybe Nebbiolo. Acidity is good but the wine is rather dark and brooding. I still think it tasted like 05 Bourgogne. I think these have a few years of life remaining.
Red
2009 Alain Jaume Lirac Clos de Sixte France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Lirac

Really rich with lots of dark cherry and a slight medicinal quality. After the wine opens I start to get some wild herb and a little black tea. Light smoke and spearmint. Modern style but delicious.
Red
2007 Snowden Cabernet Sauvignon The Ranch USA, California, Napa Valley
91 points
In spite of the ripeness level of 07 Napa, this wine really shows a dark, earthy Bordeaux quality. One taster really thought it was very ripe Bordeaux. Chocolate, blackberry, red raspberry, menthol, Indian spices, light tobacco, mint, dark cassis. Killer qpr
White
2006 Maison Albert Bichot Chablis 1er Cru Les Vaucopins Domaine Long-Depaquit France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
75 points
Flat with heavy handed malo. Very little acidity/very little Chablis minerality and fruit. I think this one is starting the slide to severe oxidation. Half the bottle remaining at the end of the tasting--enough said.
Red
2007 Rene Rostaing Vassal de Puech Noble France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Coteaux du Languedoc
88 points
Almost new world in style. Lots of tar/creosote from the Syrah majority. Languedoc funk that leans toward Roussillon in spite of the fact that this is eastern Languedoc. Dark cherry, dark raspberry, dark blackberry... A very tasty wine for the money. It isn't Côte-Rôtie but hints in that direction.

Red
2007 Copain Syrah Eaglepoint Ranch USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County

Very Copain. Creosote, pork fat, dark wild blackberry with some green thorny tannins. Rich, but lean enough on the mouthfeel not to be fat and cloying.
