Introduction
Tim did an amazing job with the food....10 courses which were all bang on. Great night
Flight 1 (10 notes)
White - Sparkling
2004 Bonnaire Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Millésimé
91 points
Very autolytic nose....palate dominated by lemon custard, minerals, lime...this is very round...acid is a touch prominent for me right now...I would age this in the hopes that it comes into a touch better balance. Finish shows good length...this will improve with time
White
2009 Umani Ronchi Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Casal di Serra

What a nose.....so intense....so earthy. A touch reductive to start but that blew off. Very pretty lemon, mushroom and asparagus piss. Palate shows steel, mineral, lemon and lime with a very good finish....quite long. I love this....almost 93pts
White
2010 Antica (Antinori) Chardonnay
91 points
Very pretty lemon custard, spice and nutmeg on the nose. Palate shows lemon, lime, vanilla custard, and spice. There is a candied element to this wine but the acid is fresh giving balance. This is a crowd pleaser for sure. Finish shows good length. Nice wine

2007 Podere Poggio Scalette Il Carbonaione Alta Valle della Greve IGT

Nose shows sweaty earth, dark cherry, herbs, vanilla.....quite a bit of french oak on the nose. Palate has dark cherry notes, chocolate, vanilla, sweet oak. Alcohol is nicely integrated. This is a beast of a wine...very rich and full but needs quite a bit of time for the oak to integrate...for me it is distracting. Finish is complex and powerful but again, the oak is too prominent for me. I am realizing that I just don't like this international style from Tuscany.

2007 Foradori Granato

I loved this wine.....nose of sweet pipe tobacco, dark cherry, smoked meat, vanilla chocolate and herbs...really integrated with no edges. Palate agains showed sweet cigar box, dark pure fruit, blackberry, chocolate, herbs, barnyard. Really complex and integrated. Finish is really long and complex with layers of menthol, tobacco, cherry and smoked meat. Awesome wine.
Red
2004 Il Poggione (Proprietá Franceschi) Brunello di Montalcino
93 points
This was pure, traditional brunello....nose of blood, iron, blackfruit, tart cherry and herbs followed by similar notes on the palate. Great finish. So pure, focused and representative of where it comes from. True brunello. Casanova di Neri ad Fanti eat your heart out. Almost 94pts
Red
2007 Fattoria Petrolo Galatrona

This was a let down.....
Nose of menthol, cherry, bitter chocolate, spice but dominated by a tonne of oak bringing further notes of coconut, herbs and bell pepper.
Palate was stemmy almost.....cherry, tonnes of pyridine and minerals.
Finish was medium. Close to only being 90pts.

Wow....stunning nose.
Brown sugar, cinnamon, tar, roses, nutmeg, sour cherry, truffle, plum and tea. Palate shows similar notes of truffle, prune, sotto bosco, tea, red flowers, tar, spice, cherry and brown sugar. Finish is very long. A gorgeous wine.
