From magnum. Ripe peach, hazelnut, some vanilla and sweet spice. Easy to enjoy, moderate intensity and length.

2006 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Côte Bouguerots France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

Far superior vs another more mature from my cellar from a few weeks ago. This still showed lots of ripe 2006 character and wasn't necessarily very classically "Chablis," but still good ripe apple with subtle textural elements throughout.

Ripe apple with some peach to start, followed by Meyer lemon and lemon peel in the middle and finish. Comes across as ripe and lush, but with enough acidity and minerality to keep this energetic. A very good example of this wine from a vintage that hasn't been very consistent.

Intensely ripe apple with great spice. Still showing a faint hint of new oak, but otherwise great balance and certainly amazing concentration. This was popped-and-poured and easy to enjoy to start, but clearly more powerful and nuanced an hour+ later. This will age very gracefully.

2001 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaumonts France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru

Open 30 minutes before serving, served alongside HN 2001 Malconsorts and CV. This was nicely mature with advanced red fruit and nice brown spice. Perhaps slightly better a year or three ago, but holding very nicely.

By the end of the evening this was my WOTN, Open 30 minutes before serving, served alongside HN 2001 Beaumonts and CV. For me this wine really showcased Malconsorts, with a mineral-driven character with intense spice that got more pronounced with more air, nicely supporting red berry aromas and flavors. I recall trying this wine shortly after release and found it austere and almost harsh. But that is what I'm learning to expect from Malconsorts, which requires 10 years to provide pleasure, and then far more pleasure at 20+ years for better vintages. This kept improving in glass.

Open 30 minutes before serving, served alongside HN 2001 Malconsorts and Beaumonts. This was forward, lush and very pleasurable from the start. it stayed at the same level throughout the evening, providing lots of pleasure. Good balance of ripe fruit, good spice and background structure that's well integrated. I preferred the Malconsorts tonight, particularly as it unfolded and developed in glass, but certainly understand others preferring this CV tonight.

Served double blind, came across as slightly older and also showing some green pepper notes i found slightly challenging to think from Bordeaux when tasted blind. But very easy to enjoy. Best when first poured, less interesting 45 minutes later.
White - Sweet/Dessert
1988 Château Rieussec France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes

Charming sweetness that really pops to start, but comes across tonight as slightly one dimensional.
