Flight 1 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée France, Champagne
89 points
Floral with a sway of autolysis and a mineralic undertone, becoming more complex as the wine settles in the glass. Fresh with small delicate bubbles and concentrated fresh fruit on the palate.
88-89 points.

White - Sparkling
1982 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon France, Champagne
96 points
A 34 year old Dom Perignon really gives a perspective of what this producer is capable of, making Champagne with superb longevity. On the nose there is mostly mature fruit aromas of baked pear, dried apricots, figs and dates. A bit phenolic and with supple dairy and cotton candy underneath. Still fizzy and alive (tough bubble have been reduced) and the palate is surprisingly fresh. Complex and long with a nutty finish.

White - Sparkling
1995 Charles Heidsieck Champagne Blanc des Millénaires France, Champagne
87 points
Tasted this alongside the Dom Periognon 1982 which I am afraid overshadowed the Heidsieck from 1995. Upfront autoliysis and surprisingly young for its age, though not quite open after airing for an hour. Some undefined sharpness to the finish.

White - Sparkling
2002 Pol Roger Champagne Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill France, Champagne
93 points
Freshness, complexity and maturity greatly harmonized. This Champagne has a bit of everthing. It is perfectly elegant with fresh sweet raspberry and floral notes. Mature with dried figs and ripe drupe and complex with a toasted autolysis touch and biscuit on the finish.
92-94 points.

White - Sparkling
2004 Salon Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Champagne
92 points
The star of the night? Expectations were at least extremely high as it went in a flight along with Winston Churchill 2002 and Jacquesson Rosé 2007. I expected so much of this wine, and I am afraid it didn’t deliver up to expectations. Maybe too young, maybe too little air, I don’t know.. It was by all means still a beautiful wine. The nose was elegant and complex but you really needed to put your nose in to it to get anything out. Fresh raspberry and blackberry perfume. Lactic with a touch of licorice, sage and minty herbs. Creamy moth filling texture, fresh and balance with primary fruit aromas.
91-93 points.
Rosé - Sparkling
2007 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Dizy Terres Rouges Rosé France, Champagne
90 points
Filled with red fruit and very primary forward but with a supple sway of autolysis. Concentrated fruity palate with a dried element to it.
89-90 points.

Flight 4 (2 notes)

White
1997 Nikolaihof Riesling Vinothek Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau
95 points
So much different than the regular Rieslings and a truly fun experience to taste. This Vinothek from Nikolaihof spends an astonishing 17 years on large old 3,5KL vats. Petroleum, phenolic, chemical, sweet clove and aromas that puts your mind in the Vin jaune area shines out along with kiwi fruit and the transition from fresh gut grass to hay. After some time there is crushed graphite and wet brick wall. Dried fruit and drupe on the palate with uplifting acidic touch.
White
2014 Markus Molitor Saarburger Rausch Riesling Auslese *** (White Capsule) Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
94 points
This is classic Mosel Riesling, so delicious. Explosive Riesling fruit of the glass. Pronounced aroma intensity. Ripe peach and new rubber beach ball with underlying botrytis. You accept a medium sweet wine from the nose but this is dry and with an good amount of acidity. This acid bomb is kept in balance with massive fruit concentration but the zesty finish is maybe a bit over the top.

Flight 5 (2 notes)

White
1996 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
94 points
Upfront V.A. and higher alcoholic touch. Beautiful layered with secondary elements of wiped cream, butter and sweet spices. Maybe too oaky, but it has a fine balance of dried fruit to back it up. Deep concentrated palate with floral and nuttiness lifted up by medium acidity. This wine stays on the palate for minutes.
White
2006 Domaine de Montille Corton-Charlemagne France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
89 points
A wine with big expectations that unfortunately disappointed. Butter and popcorn and hard to get. This wine was tasted alongside of Domaine de Chevalier Blanc 1996. Even if you could sense the concentrated palate this wine just would not let loose. It stayed one dimensional. Maybe in another setting it would have been better.

Red
2013 Frank Cornelissen Magma Italy, Sicily, Sicilia
95 points
Cool funky hipster wine, totally natural. This wine speaks of nature. Primary fruit and yeast. Stalky and cooked currant with a lovely elegance. This wine draws you in the direction of Beaujolais. Good tannic structure keeping the wine dens and firm. Raspberry seeds, strawberry and stemmy.
Red
2011 Thibault Liger-Belair Nuits St. Georges La Charmotte France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges
91 points
Classic burgundy. Elegant and light but with a good punch of wild strawberry and white pepper / juniper. A bit of smoke and rustiness. Mostly primary on the palate with a spicy touch. Good length
90-91 points.
Red
2006 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Ducs France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru

Red
2001 Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
94 points
Charmingly elegant, and a velvety structured Nebbiolo. This is one of three single vineyard Bussias from Aldo Conterno, making the Granbussia. Prunounced aroma intensity with fine elements of red currant, spices and honey, and an underlying touch of tar and saw dust. Flowery palate with balanced acidty and polished tannins that keeps the wine still intact and firm.

1997 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo Riserva Classico Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
87 points
Vanilla and overripe strawberries. Some classical notes of tar and florals. This wine has a pretty solid nose but falls very short on the palate. Short, fruit gone and dull.

Flight 8 (2 notes)

Red
1978 Château Gruaud Larose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
88 points
Mature elements and quite intense – espresso roasted coffee beans, leather, barnyard, swamp, forest floor, overripe cherry and decomposed wood. Not much fruit left. A bit sour on the palate with cherry elements and saw dust. This wine is on its decline. Drink now.
Red
2005 Château Gruaud Larose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
94 points
Quite the contrast to the 78. Camphor candy, ripe cherry, overtones of toasted oak, and bell pepper. Dens and packed with fruit and spices. So much fruit but yet in balance. This one’s a keeper.

Flight 9 (2 notes)

Red
1999 Château Haut-Bailly France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
91 points
This has started to develop some fine elements of age but still has primary and secondery aromas as its main focus. Opulent with florals, forest and plummy fruit. Nice complexity with leather and oakyness on the palate. Very pleasant, and it delivers the little extra making me want more.
Red
2012 Dominus Napanook Red USA, California, Napa Valley
91 points
This is by all means not the regular Napa cab, it is more primary fruit focused. Very Cassis driven, with hints of herbs, coffee and something in the line of a natural made wine. Concentrated, fresh and elegant, this wine offers a highly available fruit content and should be laid down for 10-15 years.

Red
2009 Bodegas Vega-Sicilia Ribera del Duero Valbuena 5° Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
94 points
Still a baby, but highly complex with upfront toasted oak, ripe cherry, dark chocolate, some dry fruit elements and phenolic undertones. Lots of concentrated flavors of fruit, spices, licorice on the palate. Long finish and great balance.
93-95 points.

1994 Bodega Weinert Malbec Estrella Argentina, Mendoza
92 points
On the nose there is dry wooden elements with lots of territorial aromas and underlying fruit with a phenolic touch. Great complexity and uplifting acidity on the palate. Fruit components are there to back up the age and make good balance. Long finish.
Red
2004 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
95 points
La Mouline has among the Rhone valleys oldest vines, in average over 90 years, bought by Etienne Guigal in 1966. The winery later took over La Landonne (1975) and La Turque (1981) becoming the famous La La’s trio. La Mouline and La Landonne is situated in the Cote Blonde of Cote Rotie and La Turque in the Cote Brune. La Mouline and La Turque includes in addition to Syrah a small share of the white variety Viognier.
Dark fruit, hints of pepper, phenolic age, vanilla, baking spices and blackberry perfume. Not the usual Syrah on the nose but so complex and elegant. Later dairy and sweet floral notes. The 2004 La Mouline has a 11 % of Viognier to it, making it velvety, silky and smooth. On the palate is fine balanced acidity and lots of concentrated blackberry and spices. Warm on the front, zesty in the finish. Wow!

White - Sweet/Dessert
2001 Château Suduiraut France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
96 points
This just have the best nose ever. So intense, so complex. Petrol, fresh car paint, burnt apple, cinnamon, rubber, botrytis, botrytis, botrytis… Medium sweet, lots of balanced acidity. I probably get fat and have bad teeth, but I don’t care, I could drink this all day..
