White - Sparkling
2008 Dom Pérignon Champagne France, Champagne

Outstanding young Dom. So much stuffing and chewy fruit, yet is vibrant and highly energetic.

2015 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Monts Mains France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru

Rich nose that has dense white fruit, mineral and slate. Palate has good density and weight, yet retains its brightness. Young, but tasty and showing some nuance already.
White
2016 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru

Very rich, dense and toasty. Forward and tasty now, but not showing any subtlety yet.
White
2002 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Gouttes d'Or France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
93 points
A fine bottle that is perfectly maturing with no signs of oxidation. Terrific texture and layering. Mature white fruit with vanilla and spice accents. Rich, bright finish. Awesome.
White
1990 Domaine d'Auvenay (Lalou Bize-Leroy) Meursault Les Narvaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault
Sadly oxidized.

2014 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault Clos de la Barre France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

Wow, a thrilling young Meursault. So good now. Rich and electric at once with a chiseled palate that has so much depth. Grand Cru quality in this vintage.
Red
2014 Sylvain Cathiard Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
95 points
Incredibly primary, rich and forward. Serious amounts of Vosne spice layered into sexy, plump black cherry fruit. Toasty. Great power and density. This is really, really long on the palate. Site and producer working in harmony here.

Golden color. Unbelievably, this took a couple hours to wake up and hit its stride. The nose beams with marmalade, maturing white fruit and spice. Rich and deep, with a bright acid kick on the back palate and into the finish. Timeless.

2006 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cuvée Duvault-Blochet France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru

Loads of spice and toast in nose. The palate is sleek with spice-filled red and black cherry. Delicious, but seems a bit thin and I wonder if the fruit will hold up to the barrel treatment over time.

2006 Domaine Ponsot Clos St. Denis Très Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru

I really liked this out of the gate. Big, full throttle nose with red and black cherry and loads of spice. With time I found the acid to get a bit edgy. Really good now, but I wonder how the acid will integrate with time.

1999 Domaine Francois Lamarche La Grande Rue France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, La Grande Rue Grand Cru

Mature black cherry is showing more dried than I'd like. Plenty of Asian spice and toasted herbs in the aromatics. Palate is dense and concentrated with lots of ripe fruit though it is a bit flat, if I'm nitpicking.
Red
2004 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos de La Bussière France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
This has all the off-putting characteristics of 2004. An asparagus and vegetal quality to the fruit. Lean on the palate. Not good.

From magnum. What an incredible treat. The aromas kept getting better and better with time in the glass. So much Vosne spice layered into still fresh black cherry fruit, with dried florals and toasted herbs. Amazing richness and power. Big spice-filled intense finish. Great stuff.

Impossibly young. Great concentration and richness to the darker, black cherry fruit. A meaty quality (that hints at some Syrah?!) with earth, herbs and old leather. Still has a fresh quality. I hope I'm this lively and spry at age 67.
