Red
2009 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Masseto Toscana IGT
93 points
It is very light and afloat, almost at another layer above the actual weight. Fresh jammy fruit. 93+
Red
1988 Noël Verset Cornas
93 points
This was a crowd pleaser, muscular but delicate and fine. Dark fruit on the nose, with years to go. 93-94
Flight 2 - Whites (12 notes)
Ramonet Batard 2001 is just incredible. Very very fine. Otherwise we had interesting flights comparing vintages and period.
White
2004 Coche-Dury Bourgogne Blanc
92 points
Lovely reduction, nice array of fruit, a little dispersed but still focused. 92
White
2004 Domaine & Selection Meursault Coche-Dury

Very fine reduction, breath of depth, soil, salinity, fine layers and balance. Great rich Coche profile. 93
White - Sparkling

2001 Domaine Ramonet Bâtard-Montrachet
95 points
My favorite white of the night. Mint, peach, pear, white florals, soil, salt, anise spice. Great complexity and balance; just layers and layers of electricity. Still more potential. 95

White - Sparkling

92 points
Magnum. On the acidic side and still little disjointed. 92
White
2008 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre

Magnum. Very nice nose but the palate tastes weird. 92

2009 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet
92 points
Weight is a little thin, good Leflaive profile. 92
Flight 3 - Bordeaux (9 notes)
We decide to start the reds with this...because why not? Interestingly enough everyone brought wines from similar period/vintages.
Red
1989 Château Cheval Blanc
93 points
Fruit leads the show with very nice nuances and clean clarity. 93
Red
1989 Château La Mission Haut-Brion
94 points
Cedar wood and pencil box. Super dark and acidic. Nice heat of spice. 94
Red
Red
1982 Château Lafite Rothschild
95 points
Lots of VA at first which blew off quickly. Some green fruit but very pleasant, still young; the profile will be sensational. 95+
Red
1983 Château Lafite Rothschild
92 points
Darker and younger, but also very thin. Good array of classic Pauillac notes. 92
Red
1983 Château Mouton Rothschild
92 points
Magnum. On the acidic side and a little bitter. Nice box of smoke. Palate is more disappointing. 92
Red
1988 Château Lafleur
93 points
On the darker/plastic side, and perhaps goes with one’s favorable cuisine. Prominent oak. 93
Flight 4 - Burgundy (14 notes)
My vote goes to DRC Richebourg 2004... then maybe the Leroy Chambertin 1961.
Red
2002 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes
94 points
01817. Dense and clean, very good balance. Indeed one of the best Vogue. 94
Red
1978 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos de La Bussière
90 points
Acidic, maybe a little oxidized, good composition of palate. 90?
Red
2000 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Bonnes Mares
93 points
Very clean and deep, thin as vintage, cool spice and backward heat. 93
Red
1993 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Bonnes Mares
93 points
Very good balance, rather mild. 93
Red
1996 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes
92 points
Nice vintage coolness and composure. Surprising showing. 92
Red
2004 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg
94 points
01289/11446. Lovely green-ish bright fruit, superb clarity, not very long but everything in place. 94
Red
2011 Domaine Leroy Chambolle-Musigny Les Fremières
92 points
00501/1191. Green, funky, need much more time and a little thin. Yet to display any Leroy aromatics. 92+
Red
1961 Maison Leroy Chambertin
94 points
Drinking very young, still lots of freshness, more interesting than luscious as it is thinner than current wines. Obviously a lot of skills here. 94-95
Red
2008 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petits Monts
flawed
On the sour and bitter side. Flawed?
Red
1987 Olivier Leflaive Chambertin
92 points
Nice palate, showing age and fresh fruit bouquet, short firm finish. Only vintage made, and apparently even the Domaine does not hold any reserve, so this may well be the last bottle on Earth. Thanks Albert. 92-93

1961 Remoissenet Père et Fils Richebourg
Not really giving much aroma all all… does not feel flawed. NR
Red
2003 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche
91 points
There is some unbalance with very prominent herbal coolness. 91
Red
2016 Domaine Anne Gros Richebourg
92 points
Just incredibly young, thin on palate, nice army of fruit that need so many decades to unpack. 92
Closing
Fun night! Many flights of wines offer good perspectives.
