Red
1997 Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
94 points
Medium garnet core, with as many as 5 color variations, and significantly fading towards the rim. Blast of old herbs on the nose, pepper, and smoked bacon. Softened tannins, mouthwatering acids, and tart cherry, pepper flavours, as well as Chinese herbs, and then some red florals and dill emerges at the beck, before going back towards coffee and old herbs. Minute long finish, and complex. Great wine!
Red
2003 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
93 points
Some depth in the garnet coloured core, and significant rim variation and fading, and viscous. Nose that is led by vanilla, marzipan, and Belgian chocolate, and mocha. Bitey tannins giving a strong structure, quite some weight, and intense vanilla, hazelnut, chocolate flavours, with some overripe cranberry and blueberry, then peppers and brown sugar, then some dried herbs. Long finish and complex

Red
1997 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
90 points
Somewhat lightish garnet core with fading and browning towards the rim. Overripe brambles, white pepper, and Gula Melaka on the nose. Softened tannins, while acids seem to show tartness, with flavours of pepper and charcuterie showing first, then dried herbs, then a hint of dried cherry towards the back, which gives way back to the pepper and herbs. Long finish but mainly of peppers and dried herbs. Seems like it had seen better days and is on the decline
Red
1997 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
90 points
Somewhat lightish garnet core with fading and browning towards the rim. Vibrant ripened blackberry and cassis, as well as black pepper and green herbs on the nose, and a hint of smoked charcuterie. Tannins soft, whilst acids mouthwatering, with overripe yet tart cherry, fern leaves, violets, pepper, then savoury meat and soy. Fairly long finish, and fairly complex. Suspect this had seen better days and on the decline, seeing how quickly it oxidises upon pouring
