N.V. Emmanuel Brochet Champagne Premier Cru Extra Brut Le Mont Benoit France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
95 points
Really lovely nose with some brioche notes, lemon, berries, and chamomile. The mouthfeel is great with nice acidity and more lemon flavors, apple, minerals, and crushed rocks. Long finish. Fantastic Champagne that packs quite a bit of complexity and depth while also being just a sheer joy to drink. 95+

2017 Romain Henin Champagne Grand Cru Blanc Comme Neige Extra Brut France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

2022 disgorgement (so probably 20217 base). Nice nose with sharp citrus notes, minerals, a hint of toast. Great acidity on the palate with round mouthfeel, some herbal notes, lemon, orange, and more bread/toasty flavors. Good finish that lingers. A very good wine that may have suffered from being poured next to the 19 Brochet Mont Benoit, which was just a bit better in every way. 92-93

I really liked the nose on this wine, which is still remarkably fresh with red berries and fruit along with some forest and earthy notes. Good balance on the palate with raspberries and cherries standing out. Nice finish. This has aged beautifully. Very impressive for a such an old "village" CA Pinot.

Pretty nose with dark fruit, black cherries, a bit of spices, leather, cedar, and underwood. Good acidity on the palate with similar flavor profile. Nice finish. A lovely wine that is drinking really well. It's youthful and has a lot of fruit left, yet there's a tertiary character that is starting to emerge.

Lovely nose with super classic Bordeaux profile of tobacco, forest, cedar, cassis, underwood, and some floral notes. The palate is very elegant with similar notes plus dark cherries and some smokiness towards the long finish. Amazing wine that's very balanced, complex, and elegant. I don't think it will improve from here, but will certainly hold for a long time.

Very nice nose with quite young and dark fruit flavors, spices, and forest notes. There's a lot going on, but the wine is not showing everything at the moment. Nice acidity on the palate with cassis, tart fruit, cherries, leather, and a hint of mushrooms. Long finish. I liked this very much although it's still quite primary. Yet, you can tell the sheer class and depth already. I'd hold for another 7-10+ years. 95+

Nice nose with leather and tertiary notes, underwood, dark fruit, chocolate, tobacco, cherries, and green bell pepper. Good acidity on the palate with lots of dark berries, cherries, leather, and more chocolate notes. Nice finish. A lovely wine that's drinking really well. There's a lot going on, but I felt the 96 Mouton next to it had a bit more depth and promise. I would drink this now and keep the Mouton in the cellar...

Very distinctive nose with lots of green bell pepper, fragrant black cherries, leather, a good amount of menthol, and some cassis. Lovely palate with good acidity and complexity, more dark cherry and fruit flavors, and some underwood. Long and lingering finish that is quite primary still. This is a powerful yet elegant and very well balanced wine. It's not easy drinking and I found this the most challenging out of all the wines tasted that night, but it's also the most interesting to me.
