One of the two best wines at the Gordon 2016 Tasting in Boston. Incredible depth and balance. Showing well already. I can't wait to see 15 years of evolution. Try again in 2031.

Started drinking after 1 hr in decanter. Tannins are mostly resolved, has a rustic taste that gradually receded over the next two hours. Leather, less fruit that many other Napa reds, though note lean. Nice depth at 27 years. I liked it best between 2 1/2 hours to 3 1/2 hours. Drink now or over next 7-10 years(Now - 2029).

At the winemaker's tasting, very good yet primary at this stage. This has the balance to age into a great wine. Drink 2035-45.

Starting to resolve, still has many years ahead. Great balance and character. Can drink now, yet will be better in a few more years.

A friend served this tonight. A great wine that is showing a lot of character and no sign of fading. Well stored bottles should easily last another 7-10 years at this level.

A friend shared with me. Double decanted and consumed over two hours. This wine was in great shape and showed no sign of fading. Based on other peoples notes, we were lucky. I served a 2000 Montrose(93 points at this stage). The Montrose was more youthful and had not yet developed the character of the 82 Calon-Segur. This was a Wow! wine, Served with Ribeye steaks. The Calon-Segur had an earthy character that moderated with air. This bottle clearly had 5 to 10 years of life remaining. Drink now to 2033.

A powerhouse with a lot of development ahead. Wait until at least 2031. This was much tighter and tannic than the Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande.

Tasted with 2005(94) and 2010. I was surprised at this showing much more development than the 2010. This is still tannic and needs at least 10 years to resolve. I can begin to sense the depth and structure emerging a bit. Drink 2031-51. The 2005 is showing the most development at this stage..

I decanted the bottle and let it breath for one hour. A great bottle that was at its best at ninety minutes and began to fade at 1 hour and forty five minutes. Smooth, big and harmonious. What a treat. Still has several years left on the plateau.

Paired with a 1995 Trotanoy - Pomerol. Both showed well. The 1997 Dominus had a bit more intensity. Decanted 1.5 hours and followed over an additional 2 hours. Continued to improve. Easily has at least 10 more years. Should improve and add more character.
