A surprisingly pleasant merlot, given the relatively young age, which can be enjoyed now but will surely blossom over time. The pleasant tannins on the finish are beginning to integrate with the lovely fruit and acidity of this wine, but will surely mature into a stunner, given the price, in a few more years.

Surely one of the finest dessert wines available today. Wow, that's quite a statement. I say this because of how unique this Pedro Ximenez sherry is. The color is very opaque, almost looks like very dark chocolate. The nose is complex with dried fruits like figs, plums and prunes dominant. The wine is viscous and velvety on the tongue. Yes, sweet, but not excessively sweet. This wine is dessert in itself and in my opinion should not be paired with your usual desserts, excepting for some appropriate cheeses or maybe judiciously poured over vanilla ice cream.

This is a lovely Sauternes but a bit too sweet at this time for my tastes. On the plus side it's as smooth as silk with no tart finish as many Sauternes appear to have.

Near perfection. Better than Burgundy. just a great bouquet and palate with a long well balanced finish. Drinking great now. Will compare with the 2013.

There's no mistaking this wine from anywhere else than Burgundy. Initial musty cellar nose upon opening that quickly blew off, resulting in a lovely, subtle red fruit nose. The palate is well balanced with mild acidity and fruit throughout the lingering palate. Just a great wine, and drinking beautifully now.

Just an all around pleasant California Pinot Noir. Not too fruit forward and nice silky finish. Not complex, but well balanced otherwise. Ready to drink now.

This wine is still quite closed with considerable tannin structure. It was not decanted prior to opening. Did not get much better after two days. Needs considerably more time to develop.Try again in a year or two.

Totally enjoyable wine with a lovely crushed tomato leaf nose, and mineral-bright palate. Personally, I don't understand the low ratings for this wine, unless it is just that its a unique sauvignon blanc not typical of CA or NZ.

Drank immediately after opening. The color of this wine showed little aging even though it was 11 years old. Very expressive bouquet with leather and eucalyptus notes and well balanced palate with negligible astringency and long-finish acidity. Drinking fine now, but may even get better over the next few years.

Coravin used:
Day 1: Beautiful sauterne in every way: color, bouquet, and palate. Lovely apricot flavors. Blue cheese pairing is perfect.
Day 2: tasting similar to day 1, but with a little more tartness.
Day 3: Similar to day 2. Can't detect a difference.

This wine's bouquet is amazing with a complex of aromatic notes and southern Rhone fruit. The palate is silky smooth with a long finish. Drinking beautifully now, but it will be interesting to see how it develops over the coming years.

An excellent California Pinot Noir. However, it still needs a few more years before it becomes a balanced wine. We compared this wine with a 2009 Marcassin, a 2018 Paul Hobbs, and a 2021 Whitehall Lane. The Marcassin was the superior wine, with the Holdredge and Whitehall Lane vying for second place.

This wine was not to my tasting. Melon and citrus nose and palate. Did not pair well with raw oysters. It had just been shipped to me when I drank it. Maybe needs more time to recover from shipping and to age a bit in the bottle.

Coravined the night before to find gripping tannins. Decided to immediately decant (triple decanted) and left to breath over night. The wine was considerablly tamed by lunch the following day and paired lovely with Osso Buco Ravioli and filet mignon.

I purchased this wine at the winery in 2015, and it stayed in my cellar until today when I drank it with friends at Ruth's Chris. It aged beautifully, and was not the jammy Two Hands that I was expecting. Yes, the fruit was there, but nicely balanced by the pleasant acidity and silky, almost non-existent tannins. Great throughout the palate, but the real winner of the lunch was a 2002 The Colonial Estate Émigré from Barossa Valley. This wine was near impeccable.

Upon opening this 2014 ribbon ridge pinot noir, it was exquisite. Beautiful balance of fruit, silky smooth tannin, and supportive acidity, all blended to perfection. However, during our three hour lunch this wine lost much of its beauty. Still good, but not the same wine that was initially opened. Of course, it's always difficult to know if the wine naturally lost its uniqueness over time, or whether the food during our lunch influenced my perception of the wine (duck was my main). All this suggests, if you have this wine, time to partake.

This is a fantastic wine. Beautiful nose, great body, and an everlasting finish. However, I don't think it has reached its peak yet. Balance was good, but I believe it will integrate even more in the next few years. This is my last bottle of the 2009. I wish I had more.
