This is clearly a well-aged wine that shows more of the old style as the oak is clearly prominent with a good dose of smoke along with roasted coffee beans, spice notes, black cherries, liqueur notes, licorice, dried leather, soy sauce, and some dried herbs. The full bodied feel is balanced with high acidity that is a bit drying and Medium tannins that are also drying. As I said before, this is good for a data point but really not much past that. I'm really not sure what this gained from being aged this long, but it has held up.

  October 2, 2012 - The Wines of Azienda Agricola Matteo Correggia (E&R Wine Shop, Portland Oregon): Difficult to assess beyond aroma and flavor of menthol. Faded fruit, leather and lacks substance. This doesn't appear to have improved with bottle age, but appreciate trying next to the '09.
