May 29, 2023 - First Madeira I think. Aromas of caramel, dates, brown butter, like a decadent dessert. Flavor is sherry like in the sort is savory-salty way, but sweet. Some nice to balance.

November 5, 2022 - Oranges, figs, sweetness - all held together by an electric acidity. Long finish. Hard to keep from reaching for more of this!

March 20, 2022 - ESTG Northern Rhône: I just love Bual, tangy and brothy with that beef/cooked-onion thing. Really nice energy and weight.

February 6, 2022 - Both bright and slightly sweet, showing toasted almonds, dried dates and candied orange peel, with a long, vibrant finish.

(NV Rare Wine Co. (Vinhos Barbeito) Madeira Historic Series Boston Bual Special Reserve) This Bual emulates some of the finest qualities of vintage Madeira at an exceptional price. Light amber-tawny color. Complex, compelling nose of dried fig, walnut, maple syrup, mahogany, and a hint of bouillon cube. Medium in weight at first, it develops greater heft after standing open for a few days, offering a rich, sumptuous mouthfeel. The sweetness is balanced, and the finish is defined by a smooth, enjoyable liquid caramel element. This elegant Madeira is made for sipping slowly, offering distinct dried-apricot, candied orange-peel, and nutty nuances, along with zippy acidity for pairing with a diversity of dessert items.
