March 9, 2016 - Acker Auction - March (Rebelle in NYC): Unfair to this wine. It was overshadowed by the 2000 Beaucastel HDJP. This wine hasn't aged quite like I had hoped. When it was younger the fruit was very prevalent, but there were hints of flavors behind that that I hoped would raise up as the fruit faded. Instead the fruit has faded a bit, but the secondary characteristics aren't coming forward and the wine just feels a touch flat. Alcohol more prevalent than some of the other wines we were drinking and not quite as balanced. Standard Constant CS flavors - lots of blackberry and touches of brambles.

March 4, 2016 - This is a good wine although I was surprised at how little it's changed in the 3 years since we've had it. Opened and decanted for maybe 30 minutes before drinking. Could probably have used more. It was a bit tighter than I expected it to be. Still kindof a blackberry and brambles flavor. Went well with red meat, but overpowered the chicken.

September 16, 2013 - Winorama with a surprise (engagement)!; 9/15/2013-9/18/2013 (Napa Valley California): This is still such a young wine and odd to be drinking it again within only a few months. First mouthful is of bright and rich blackberry, a touch of dustiness, ends with a full load of tannins. Too early to drink, but a very good wine.

May 12, 2013 - Decanted for ~5-6 hours before drinking. Even with that this wine was clearly too young. Nose was very tight and more alcoholic than inviting at this stage. On the tongue it was bright ripe red cherries, a bit of softness, and then a tannic finish that belies more years ahead. Will be holding the rest of ours for at least five more years. Expect this score will increase with that time as well, but right now ~92.
