March 16, 2018 - Fun? Who the hell wants fun? Who wants pleasure and fun and stuff like that? Pfft. Amateurs. I tell you what - smell this wine - go on, smell it..... nice huh? Oh yeah....gonna be sooooo gooood....... oh yeah. Oh man, you were so smart to spend sixty five english pounds on this baby - oh yeah. Go on, smell it. Terroir, earth, some proper high toned stuff in there man.
Can you feel it man? Smell it again..... Gone? Yup. Gone. You need to be quick. All gone. 5 minutes. Thats it. Yeah sure, now it's hard as nails and has an appeal to those with masochistic tendencies. Welcome to Burgundy sir. But trust me, another one will be along soon....sooooo goooood you would be a fool to miss it.

I was expecting tenderness and French music, and instead I got a domanatrix with niche tastes in punishment and German industrial techno

March 23, 2016 - PnP. Significant weight on the palate with its hefty (but a little rustic) dark fruit. Earthy with a prominent woody note which was somewhat distracting. Aromatics opened up and wine softened somewhat over the hour in which we drank this. Will probably do better with more bottle age but frankly I found this a bit hard to love.

November 27, 2013 - The 2011 Domaine Rossignol Trapet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Petite Chapelle is medium (-) vibrant ruby in colour with a nose of sweet cranberries, clean soil and earth and juicy red cherries.

On the palate, a sweet burst of juicy cranberries (or cranberry juice almost) as the mid palate arises some sour cherries and a hint of underlying soil. Very clean cut in style and pure, even the earthy gevrey notes are very well put in place. Medium bodied wine with a medium intensity of flavours but very well-expressed and refined. Nonetheless, the 2011 acidity is still pretty noticeable, giving good firm structure in the wine. Very bright and almost 'fruity' on the palate.
A lot of weight on the back palate despite its clean nature, the wine definitely has many many years ahead. Definitely enjoyable - one can only imagine the depth it may develop.

The vines of the Petite Chapelle plot of Rossignol Trapet were planted in 1986.
