November 12, 2023 - Scallops and Steak with friends (At home in leafy West London): Proper claret, on a gentle downslope. Wonderful ethereal nose, and the aftertaste that lingers on the palate is really nice - it's only in the middle that you realise this is a little tired and its best days are behind it.

November 25, 2020 - Good fill, very snug cork. Some funk that blows away pretty quickly in the glass. Lots of ripe but rather tart cranberry and sour cherry fruit that still has plenty of life. Some old leather, earth, and an iron streak. On the light side and a bit lean, with a medium finish exhibiting plenty of acidity. Clearly Bordeaux, but not so obviously Paulliac to me. A pleasant if not profound wine. No great rush based on this bottle.

June 13, 2015 - Top shoulder fill. Soaked cork comes out in one piece. Drank from decanter over 2h. Garnet with little signs of aging. Still good fruit on the palate but also tobacco, a very nice, classic Pauillac and impressive for a 30 year old Haut Batailley, lacks a bit in complexity and concentration for a higher score but very pleasant nevertheless. Drink now. 89-90.

December 3, 2014 - Dinner at Park Palace with the IT guys (Park Palace): This showed incredibly fresh. Unmistakably Pauillac - nose of pencil-shavings, lead. On the palate, red-blue fruited, nice acidity, resolved tannins, some leather... It also had this "metallic" streak. At bit drying at the end. Overall a nice drink but doesn't generate that much excitement; A bit too straightforward perhaps. Will definitely hold for a lot more years, but wonder if it will develop more complexity?
