Community Tasting Notes 2

July 9, 2016 - Nice wines; 7/8/2016-7/9/2016 (Geelong VIC): High quality and classy wine. Very distinctive nose, sauvage, savoury slightly earthy gravel maybe a hint of tobacco coming from maturity. The Wine is very beguiling on the nose and palate, certainly Chambertin pedigree, liquid silk with loads of character and a touch of the "Je ne sais quoi". Builds complexity the longer it goes and the last glass is the best, brilliant for the vintage for sure. The wine glides effortlessly and has excellent length with the tannins caressing right through the finish and holding the note as it tails off. Seriously impressed with this as it's just a lovely wine and a bargain for a Chambertin. Drank this on my own whilst absorbing stage 8, 2016 Tour de France in the Pyrenees. This wine restores faith that for all the average wines had along the way from every level the brilliance of Burgundy is still worth pursuing as it has no equal. Well done Drouhin in a difficult year this shines brightly.

April 22, 2011 - Quite forward and advanced but a very tasty drink none the less. There is mirepoix and beef stock notes along with a little coal smoke. It is sweet and floral with plenty of caramelised meat action. It is quite expansive and has bright minerally acidity on the finish.
