Community Tasting Notes 5

December 7, 2018 - This bottle was on fire. Reminded me of the Bouchard rose, and one of the best rose Champagnes I have drunk in recent memory. Fantastic.

August 30, 2018 - Not a great showing. I'd drink this up bcs there's not much left.

July 17, 2018 - Wine dinner (The Morris, SF): Salmon-pink, very slightly cloudy; strawberry, highly aromatic, wild yeast, slight funk, very pleasant aromas; palate is medium bodied, great strawberry fruit, nice length; medium-plus finish. This is a lovely rose, with tons of personality, completely different from other rose champagne and more similar to a superb pet-nat. 92-93

May 20, 2017 - Strawberries and an earthy/nutty note on the nose. On the palate, strawberry, rhubarb, sweet cherry, and notes of pastry and a spice that is difficult to identify - something like anise or clove, with strong mineral acidity and an extremely fine bubble. This was a bargain for the $45 I paid on closeout. I would consider this a fair value at $70, but on searching I see it selling for $80+, which seems a little high even given the premium for rosé Champagne.

November 14, 2015 - Annual Bolomey, Sprezzatura & Clavelin Wine Tasting (Restaurant Choux, Amsterdam, NL): An whirlwind of a nose with confit strawberries and spice, violets, almonds and red cherries (these latter notes derived from six days of carbonic maceration); natural sweetness from the ripe fruit and a firm, mineral and fresh core, direct and precise as wines from this maison are. Excellent, rare and quite expensive.
