March 6, 2022 - After a recent dazzling experience with this ultra rare old Dom Pérignon I was amazed to find another bottle on the auction marketplace. Well, the second time is never the same. The family resemblance is there with its gentle citricity, amazing youthfulness, smattering of bubbles and fine depth. Just lacking a certain brightness and energy for truly great but it’s still extraordinary.

December 10, 2021 - Dom Perignon P2/P3 Dinner (New York City): Second time having this wine in 2 weeks (a strange coincidence). Even though at this tasting it came after a lot of great wine, my recent tasting had a similar feeling: you know you are drinking great champagne (not just intellectually but you can taste the quality) but it didn't give that much. Felt like it might have been shut down. Has a lot of potential and very good at the moment, but you can't ignore the potential.

December 10, 2021 - DP Extravaganza! (Friend's place): The point in the night where the notes get a bit less strong. This was a very pretty wine. Perhaps the one I was most excited about as the regular DP from this vintage was a favorite of mine at a 70’s champagne tasting we did a few years ago. It’s still quite young though and perhaps not as expressive as I’d have expected. Long time to go. The perfect wine to serve if you are a 71 birth year and plan to live to 90.

November 20, 2021 - JK's 50th Birthday: This is like a candle, emitting flavors and it does not stop. Concentrated, rich, heavenly, everything what a perfect wine should be. Some slight signature bitter aftertaste that is so refreshing, pinching deep at every inch of the tongue. Graceful, forever heat. Super memorable with the balanced acidity. 100

November 8, 2021 - Drink Bordeaux’s bottle. Everyone at the birthday party agreed that this was the best old or ancient champagne they had ever drunk. Not even close. The bright light to medium yellow color lets you know it’s going to behave more like a toddler than a geriatric man. If you didn’t blink when it was first poured you could catch the few mini-bubbles. But you don’t need them at all, not for this one, which is clearly wine rather than champagne; specifically, a perfectly preserved white Burgundy such as a Coche-Dury Corton Charlemagne. Lots and lots of delicious orange and peach fruit. Medium dry but seems almost sweet enough to pour on your breakfast pancakes. Yes, it seems like it could be Cristal but for the touch of mineral austerity on the finish. As good as the ‘71 P2 is, this is in another world.
