October 15, 2021 - Color - medium amber, orangy. It was a bit "empty" for me, very 'acid forward' but not enough flavor/fruit content.

April 25, 2020 - The Might of Madeira with Demetri Walters MW (Zoom!): So deep. Smoky rubber, beef broth and coffee on the volatile nose. Grippy and saline in the mouth. Bitter lemon on the mid-palate and a spicy, savoury finish. Just getting into its stride.

October 12, 2018 - So damn good, and young. Complex, salty, rich, bring, solid fruit, too. Paired wonderfully with grilled oysters.

April 27, 2017 - Madeira Seminar and Guided Tasting (Cream Wine Company - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Bottled in the past couple of years. Rich and powerful but a little monolithic right now. Slightly sweeter vs Barbeito '78 with lots of interesting caramelized fruit notes. Needs time.
