February 12, 2022 - 2021 Martinborough weekend with Kai, Marion and friends (Wairarapa, NZ): Served double blind with the Jayer-Gilles. An ethereal, lighter, lifted bouquet of red cherries, raspberries and even some strawberries, garrigue, dried herbs and warm tilled soil with gentle florals. On palate, very herbal, including some touches of freshly cut green herbs (but not unpleasant pyrazine or green notes). I thought the wine could be New World or cooler vintage red Burgundy but did not think of Pyramid Valley. I was not surprised by the reveal. A top, on song Pyramid Valley Botanical with a nice bit of development. Drink from now until 2025+.

October 25, 2018 - Taste North Canterbury 2018 (Christchurch, New Zealand): Cosmic biodynamic codswallop and Robert Parker worship aside, this is indeed a very fine Pinot Noir from Canterbury. Tasting it at a busy festival I get the impression this would be one to nurse for an evening over a long meal! Bright red strawberry and cranberry fruits, dark florals, a nose almost like a rosé, yet with the leaf litter and cut mushroom. Palate layered and strangely intense, despite its medium bodied tannins and light ruby colour in the glass. An ingtriguing, beautiful (and expensive) wine.

August 7, 2018 - Soft red berries, flowers, spices, lactic notes on the nose. On the palate a bit more grip than 2015 Kusuda Pinot Noir tasted alongside, more concentration and richness, still fresh and rather soft. Good length. 91-92+

August 22, 2017 - Pyramid Valley (Best Cellars, Crown Street): Slight ash, slightly sour raspberry fruit, a little spice, pretty floral top notes, a tiny smoky note as well as some funkiness. Juicy and wet with muted & slightly sweet fruit and a fair amount of fine, silky textured tannic grip. Meh.
