Community Tasting Notes 4

June 24, 2019 - The wine was medium gold in colour and offered stone fruit, apricot, orange peel, herbal notes, anise and a maritime, salty sea breeze component on the slightly oxidative nose. On the palate, the medium- to full-bodied, medium complex wine showed stone fruit, apricot, orange, bruised apple, herbal notes, pastis and a salty mineral component, with lively, medium-minus acidity, a good, slightly waxy mouthfeel and very good length of the salty, herbal and mildly spicy finish. This bottle was more evolved and not quite as striking as a bottle I had about 1 1/2 years ago. Drink now.

January 14, 2018 - The cork was almost completely soaked. The wine was medium golden in colour and offered orange, apricot, herbal notes and anise as well as an interesting salty sea breeze component on the nose. On the palate, the wine showed orange peel, apricot, wax, spice, herbal notes and anise, complemented by pleasant saltiness, with low-ish but mouthwatering acidity, a great, slightly waxy mouthfeel, very good length and herbal and spicy aftertaste. This intriguing, full-bodied, medium-complex wine had good concentration, was very balanced and in a very good place. I liked it a lot! Very good value.

May 9, 2007 - 2007 France Trip - Beaucastel, Ferrand, Vielle Julienne, Grand Veneur (Southern Rhone): 50% Rousanne, 50% Viognier, and a touch of Clairette. Fragrant white peaches. Canned pears. Tasty and fruity.

May 9, 2007 - 2007 France Trip - Beaucastel, Ferrand, Vielle Julienne, Grand Veneur (Southern Rhone): 100% Viognier cuvee. Spicy honey and apricots. Fresh and tight in the mouth. No trace of heaviness. Excellent.
