October 28, 2022 - Drunk between the Banockburn and Gibbston vineyard bottling, this was, not surprisingly, the richest wine on the table, with the deepest colour, highest alcohol, and the thickest mouthfeel. Very varietal, and certainly my true to its warm terroir, the wine suffered in comparison to its two more transparent and nuanced siblings. Still, this is immediately attractive, with a voluptuous fruit quality that is a lot of fun, if not the most elegant. Certainly outstanding.

January 14, 2022 - 2019 Visit to Cromwell (Central Otago, NZ): Four hectares of vines planted on the old gold prospecting area Chinaman’s Terrace. An elevated site 400 metres above sea level. Abel clone 100% whole cluster but 35% of the total. New oak 31%. Perfumed and dark fruited. The richest, darkest fruited and largest scale pinot. Earthy with some iron. “The goal at Bendigo is to balance the bigger elements”, Jen noted. Lovely texture, fine grained tannins. “The best Bendigo we’ve made”, said Jen. Very good but one cuvée has to be 4/4.

June 20, 2021 - Medium ruby color. Perfumed nose of rose and fresh strawberry and red cherry. Dry, lively acidity, prescient tannins, palate follows through. Medium body. Good balance (tannins). Medium finish. Good representation from the New World.

January 23, 2021 - Nose of dried cranberry, cherry, and dried leaves. Palate shows intense, concentrated flavours of dried fruit (red cherry, blackberry), with sappy tannin adding a touch of astringency.

September 15, 2019 - Beautiful new world Pinot. Opened up and showed itself after just 10 minutes in the glass and kept on developing. Plum, cherry and cut grass with fine tannins, well structured with a long finish.
