March 1, 2024 - Some Wine Tasted at the Acker La Paulée Auction (Maybourne Hotel - Beverly Hills CA): I opened this at auction. Fleshy red and black cherry that is wonderfully dense and lively. Bright and engaging. Served alongside the very different, equally wonderful 2007 vintage.

June 18, 2022 - Very pretty nose with strawberries and red cherries. It's fruit driven, yet very elegant with good complexity. With some air, a rose petal and a slightly minty note came out. Nice acidity on the palate with similar flavors and some forest notes. Delicate but with good depth. Long finish. Excellent wine, a joy to drink!

October 19, 2020 - A quick double decant and left it to slow ox an hour before a BYO dinner. The color is vibrant, could be mistaken for a recent release, a clear ruby and you can find a faintest of bricking around the rim if you look for it. Red-fruit dominant, predominantly wild strawberries, with spun sugar, violets, spicebox and sous-bois. There is a crystalline precision of aromas and flavors, such laser-sharp focus not commonly encountered. Dense and powerful and yet sleek and silky, the wine has a structure that is both pleasing and promises a long life ahead. The immense petrichor adds to a long finish. A textbook Ruchottes, the 2006 is very enjoyable now with a quick decant but my sense is that patience will be amply rewarded, cellaring this monumental wine for another 5-10 years.

August 17, 2020 - My 2nd of 3 btls since Oct 2016. Slox-oxed in btl and Burg glasses 1 hour prior to dinner. Spectacular first sniffs & sips and it never looked back. Maturing aromas of underbrush and roses. Showed lifted lush fruit along with tertiary underbrush and mushroom combine with succulent raspberry, cherry. licorice and mineral. This is slightly bigger than Rousseau's version but still weightless and energetic. And like Rousseau, traditional with transparent terroir driven fruit of the first order. Wonderful concentration. Adored this ultra balanced wine and its endless complexity. This is a head-turner worthy of the lofty prices it gets these days. Purchased locally on release and perfectly stored since. No sneaking up on this producer any longer. One left for 3-10 years out. Another great wine to celebrate turning 65 on Minnesota's North Shore of Lake Superior with.

June 26, 2020 - 2001 (and circa) Burgundy (Jason's Roof): Double blind 4 of 7. An intense nose of dark fruit, and dark red fruit on the front palate. There's clearly a lot of structure on this, and a touch of spice (oak?). This is at least a 1er cru, I thought Vosne. The reveal was a bit of a surprise, as it's a touch clunky and angular for a M-G Ruchottes, but given the vintage not that much of a surprise, and this can also go a lot longer.
