Belle bouteille!

March 20, 2023 - Burgundy in color with orange hue on the rim and slightly bricking this wine has nose of strawberries, cranberries, rose petals, tobacco, allspice forrest underbrush and Paulliac-like pencil led followed by the rich medium to full-body palate with an ensemble of red fruit, fresh acidity and finely grained tannins with pronounced secondary characteristics of pencil lead, truffles and spices finishing long and savory.

October 1, 2022 - Opened up considerably over the first 1.5 hrs but would open up hours earlier next time.

Strawbeery/cranberry, anise and trace baking spice with still moderate acid and smooth tannins with a lingering granite finish.

Drinking great and we think could go for longer

December 24, 2020 - from memory. I have only had a few well aged burgundies at this price point. It immediately reminds why it's always worth splurging on special bottles. This had a nose that sang red fruit and was superbly balanced on the palate with a long savory finish. Just divine and wish I had more!

(CORTON ROGNET Domaine Chevalier) 2005 Red Burgundy Dear Friends, After tasting this wine tonight, it's worthy of the acclaim and then some. This offer is going to push the limits of my technological savvy as I'm attempting to type it on my Blackberry (including a web link below - hopefully it will work) but I'll give it my best thumb forward (does the phrase "you're all thumbs" still have a derogatory connotation or is it the ultimate compliment to a texting/Blackberry whiz kid?). I know many people believe laptops and desktops are unnecessary in today's day and age, where everything and anything can be done on an i-phone, but I'll take my laptop any day. With that in mind, this was too good of a price to wait until morning - probably the finest overall deal on 2005 Grand Cru Burgundy I've come across since the original first tranche prices. What makes this even more enticing is the tariff - $20-30/bottle less than first tranche and nearly $80/bottle less than the intended retail price (although I remember seeing it for $90-110 a few years ago from deep discounters in the US). Released to great fanfare and appraise, this wine continues to gain in confidence and stature and it should be a knockout with another 4-6 years in the cellar. It has a special mix of red and black fruit tones swimming in a bath of minerality, purity and earth. The beautiful red fruit and rock flavors seem to weave in and out of the darker black fruit and the whole package is held together by robust 2005 tannins. In addition, the better 2005s will always have the chance to increase in value. While I don't have my laptop to gain access to reviews, I was able to capture this link from last night's Winebid auction that has a review synopsis from Tanzer, Burghound et al. I'm sure there are positive comments out in the community as well: http://www.winebid.com/buy_wine/item_details.aspx?ItemId=3088493-C9265 VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FIRST COME FIRST SERVED at this crazy price up to 24/person until we run out This parcel has impeccable provenance - it's been perfectly stored since release 2005 Domaine Chevalier (Pere et Fils) Corton Rognet Grand Cru (750ml) eyboard Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Burg7315
