April 1, 2017 - HDH Burgundy Auction (Chicago, IL): A little barnyardy, animale, and funky, but in a very nice sense of the word, at least on the nose. The palate shows a little more barnyardy as well, with lots of ripeness. Quite sweet. Rich and sappy.

June 4, 2008 - Dried cherry on the nose, nicely red fruit rich on the palate. Mouth coating with considerable length. But what raises this to this level is the brightness and perhaps elegance of the fruit, a point that really distinguishes many 1985's. In contrast, many 1990's, why very well made and extracted, seem to have "dull" fruit qualities. My last bottle, but well stored bottles of this wine have many years ahead of them.
