Flight 1 (25 notes)

White
2004 Bouchard Père et Fils Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
93 points
Great floral start with nicely maturing orchard fruit and savory spice. Moderate concentration, great finessed length.
White
1999 Coche-Dury Meursault Les Rougeots France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault
93 points
Small glass, brief note. Served double blind. I correctly identified the ripe vintage, but was indecisive between Grand Cru and 1er! Rich and opulent, everything maturing elegantly. A real powerhouse with great concentration.
White
2010 Maison Leroy Bourgogne Blanc France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc
86 points
Small glass, brief note. Slightly tropical with good richness.
White
2013 Domaine Ramonet Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
92 points
Small glass, brief note. Great apple and baked apple flavors, forward and fun. Somewhat less forthcoming aromatically to start, but more emerged with air. Better in a few years, but not a vintage to age for decades.
White - Sparkling
1996 Dom Pérignon Champagne Oenothèque France, Champagne
Small glass, brief note. Served a bit too warm, which brought forward its tropical notes. Good structure and length, but not the best this wine has ever shown to me.
Red
1997 Bouchard Père et Fils La Romanée France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, La Romanée Grand Cru
90 points
Small glass, brief note. Very 1997, ultra ripe but with good concentration. I'd want more acidity, because today I'd consider this a wine to enjoy sooner vs later, which is unfortunate for La Romanee at under 20 yo.
Red
2001 Domaine Dujac Charmes-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
93 points
Small glass, brief note. Great spice, nicely maturing red fruit. Weightless charm. Very elegant.
Red
2008 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Most preferred the 2006 in the next glass, but I preferred this 2008, which clearly needs much more cellar time. Subtle floral and spice notes to start with black and red berries. Very firm and backward, even if showing a long and powerful finish. Better 2020 or even 2023 forward, with 92-93 point potential.
Red
2006 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
91 points
Lots of ripe black cherry with very good concentration and baking spice. Not very complex right now, but clearly so very young in its evolution.
Red
2001 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
95 points
Tasted several times over 2+ hours. Broad array of red and black fruit, stil mostly fresh and very concentrated. Spice showed both savory and sweet character over time, all very Vosne. Long and powerful. Still very young. Easily the highlight of today's Meo Brulees vertical.
Red
1992 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
89 points
Very enjoyable, but certainly well past it's optimal drinking window. Fully mature red fruit with savory spice.
White
1996 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
91 points
Small glass, brief note. Nicely mature orchard fruit, great concentration for its level in the Leflaive hierarchy. Very good length.
Red
1985 Louis Jadot Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots Domaine Gagey France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Small glass, brief note. Very dark and meaty, just a little too barnyardy.
Red
2013 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
92 points
Small glass, brief note. Black fruit with a little earth, very good spice .shockingly accessible for Gouges. Best for the medium-term.
Red
2002 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Echezeaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
89 points
Small glass, brief note. Red fruit through, still nicely fresh. Less complexity or nuance than I want from Grand Cru.

Red
2001 Domaine Jean Grivot Echezeaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
90 points
Small glass, brief note. Black and red fruit, not as accessible as I'd expect from 2001. Good+ overall, but with a slightly drying finish.
Red
2001 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaumonts France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
88 points
Small glass, brief note. Fully mature red fruit with baking spice hints. Moderate weight and length, good+ balance. Best near- term or sooner.
Red
2001 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Clos Vougeot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
90 points
Small glass, brief note. Also fully mature. Seemed very Vosne. Time to drink up.
Red
1997 Louis Jadot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
91 points
Small glass, brief note. Ripe fruit with good concentration, even if not up to the typical level of Jadot 1997s. Still very elegant with great balance for the vintage.
Red
2000 Frederic Esmonin Mazy-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru
87 points
Small glass, brief note. Magnum. Wonderful aromas of mature black frui and earth . Similar flavors, just far too mature and earthy for a Grand Cru at this age. Drink up soon.
Red
1990 Domaine Tollot-Beaut Corton France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
91 points
Small glass, brief note. Seemed slightly older to start but rich and ripe with good concentration. Seemingly freshened up with a few more minutes in glass, without losing anything good.

White - Sparkling
2004 Delamotte Champagne Blanc de Blancs Millésimé France, Champagne
91 points
Very lean and bright start, slightly richer going forward. I really like the chiseled, minerally textures.

Red
2008 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
87 points
Small glass, brief note. As much red frui vs black. Leaner style textures than usual for Rousseau, but still good concentration. Best to enjoy younger.

Red
2010 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Clos Vougeot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. Popped and poured. Reductive start with red berries, savory spice and floral hints. Reduction masking some of the full savory character, but impressive concentration I would consider to have 92 point potential.
Red
2002 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée St. Vivant France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. Served to me blind. Bright and powerful red fruit with plenty of baking spice made me think Vosne Grand Cru. I thought it younger (2008) but didn't know at the time that it was just popped-and-poured. Clearly just starting to show the wine's great potential. I am confident this would started unfolding beautifully even in just 20-30 minutes in glass.
