Community Tasting Notes 5

July 3, 2012 - The nose is extraordinarily floral - I was wondering if the juice was actually made of some kind of white flowers rather than grapes. There is also some peach, but sniffing from a big glass the bouquet is really mostlyl about flowers. The palate is a bit too soft for my likes, and the wine might have been at peak a year or two ago. Quite fascinating still.

March 25, 2012 - Passionfruit, tangerine bouquet. Light butter, minerals. Golden colour with orange tinge.

May 21, 2011 - A Tasting of 2009 Gramenon (Shannon's): This definitely showed the ripeness of the vintage with ripe peach, red apple skins, white flowers, ginger and spice on the nose. Mid-full bodied on the palate, a little bit top-heavy and could use a little more acid to balance all the richness (again likely indicative of the vintage), with a peach cobbler flavor on the palate (amazingly so, as you could sense the baked peach, spice and even the dough). Finishes with a touch of heat. A beautiful and perfumed Viognier, but again I would've liked some more acid and to that end, I would recommend drinking sooner than later.

March 10, 2011 - Light yellow color; a little oxidized, apple, pear, apple-that's-been-sitting-out-for-an-hour-or-two nose; apple, pear, mineral palate; medium finish

June 18, 2010 - nose - very fragrant. pit fruit, flowers, perfume
mouth - viscous mouthfeel and very full bodied. i'm drinking it solo, but it probably needs something like salmon. The finish maintains the fullbodiedness and perhaps i even get some heat at the very end. The finish is also bitter. This could appeal to some but is not really my style of white, i prefer crisper more minerally offerings. But the nose is impressive.
