February 25, 2012 - Hints of tropical fruit greet the nose, fresh acidity and crispness on opening. After an hour or two, the oak takes over and almost overpowers the wine, which lowered my rating a point. Finishes like a chardonnay.

June 30, 2011 - A wonderful example of Viognier in Virginia. The wine has bright honeysuckle on the nose. With time, a sweet lemon peel aroma develops in the bouquet as well. The wine has a pleasant acidity and crisp effervescence on first taste. Best served only slightly chilled--too cold and you miss the subtle sweetness and character of this wine.

May 21, 2011 - A Tasting of 2009 Gramenon (Shannon's): Pretty aromas of pear, melon and white flowers. However, quite flabby on the palate and seriously lacking acid and structure. Admittedly, I was informed the wine was opened for a few hours prior to my tasting, so perhaps I can't fully appreciate what the wine may have had to offer.

September 18, 2010 - King Family Vineyard Tasting (King Family Vineyard): first wine of the tasting. fresh and clean but not much substance.
