Saturday, September 17, 2022 - "Le clos des 60 ouvrees" is really keeping up to the modern times. 26 years old, and still a beauty. Deep brownish, but still with a fine, deep ruby core. The nose is just mesmerizing: raspberries, red cherries, wet earth, mint, as well as a balsamic touch. Sometimes the nose is almost enough. It is hard to follow up the nose, and the mouth doesn't quite match. Sweet attack dominated by raspberries and red cherries, at the mid palate some fine tannins kick in, and then there is an almost overwhelming acidity at the end of the tasting curve. It all comes together in a fine and fresh raspberry aftertaste that sits for a minute or so. This is just impressive. The wine from this producer has sometimes seemed a little "blunt", but this is just elegance. Aging has done this wine well. I guess the score is too conservative, but it is hard not to give the emotional side too much place here. Drunk with a grilled free range chicken with newly picked "funghi porcini" this was a 100.
