Friday, September 23, 2022 - It’s been a long time since I’ve opened a bottle of Quintarelli red, but the opportunity to do so on a New York restaurant list for $145 was too good to pass up. It may be 12 years old, but it drinks like it went in the bottle yesterday, even after an hour-long decant. Purple and black fruits, a heavy dose of graphite, and vanilla extract all are prominent. The ripeness is clear, but at the same time, a strong vein of acidity keeps the wine feeling far lighter than it otherwise would. Recommended, but give it more air than I did.
