93 Points

Friday, October 14, 2022 - Very dark ruby colored. Overripe dark berries and some mushroom and tobacco notes in the nose. On the palate lots of jammy berry notes like cassis, blackberries, plum and dark cherries. Some forest floor, tar, porcini and herbal notes in the background. Full bodied with a medium acidity. Tannins are surprisingly reserved and nicely integrated. Fantastic fruit structure, maybe a little overripe. Alcohol is integrated nicely. Great complexity. Good balance, a bit too much on the fruity side. Very long, massive and dark finish.
Quick summary: a great wine with a beautiful fruit structure but far away from Parker’s 100 points in my opinion. QPR could be better. It already felt quite open and showed some nice tertiary notes. I don’t think it will age gracefully over the next 20 years, but another 10 years shouldn’t be a problem, so no time to hurry. (IG)
