  • Tasted at winery.

Probably my favorite wine from the tasting.

Mint, red cherry, fresh cut grass.

Drinking beautifully now and will probably get even better with time.

    94 points.

  • TOP SHELF WINE WEEKEND: Grippy blackberry, with healthy doses of green peppercorns, bark, menthol, and pyrazine elements make for a profile that is fairly strict and taut. There is a bitter tinge that carries through the delivery, keeping flavor expansion superficial. Obviously less concentrated (by a long shot) than the Colgins and Harlans – and by a loooooong shot from the crazy flamboyant M7-types), this bottle of Verite is not unlike some of the other 2013s I’ve experienced in recent tastings: tannic, grippy, and linear. Finishes clipped and a bit biting, with the green notes ramping up on the tail.

Compared to the more affable 2015 La Joie served next to it, the 2013 was in less of a mood to glad-hand and work the room. A small sample of the 2013 was saved for day two, which initially indicated it might come out of its shell; instead, it collapsed and shut down hard. For those holding bottles, continue to do so. This will always be a Bordeaux in a cool vintage type of wine. So, if that’s your thing, you’re in luck!

  • Memorial Day Weekend, Day 2: The Great Gatsby: I thought this was possibly corked, with a bit of sour cork/tree bark and sour red notes. Turns out it was bret.

Red fruits with wet earth and a bit of mushrooms. A bit of sour cork note peeks out on the tail end.

I was told this was bret and I will believe it. Must be the style of the wine.

  • Very dark ruby colored. Overripe dark berries and some mushroom and tobacco notes in the nose. On the palate lots of jammy berry notes like cassis, blackberries, plum and dark cherries. Some forest floor, tar, porcini and herbal notes in the background. Full bodied with a medium acidity. Tannins are surprisingly reserved and nicely integrated. Fantastic fruit structure, maybe a little overripe. Alcohol is integrated nicely. Great complexity. Good balance, a bit too much on the fruity side. Very long, massive and dark finish.
Quick summary: a great wine with a beautiful fruit structure but far away from Parker’s 100 points in my opinion. QPR could be better. It already felt quite open and showed some nice tertiary notes. I don’t think it will age gracefully over the next 20 years, but another 10 years shouldn’t be a problem, so no time to hurry. (IG)

  • Ca. CS (Mu & Mu restaurant, Rehovot): outstanding!!!
    Deep red-ruby color.
pronounced aroma and flavors of fresh forest red fruits, plums, pomegranate, strawberries, chocolate, blackberry.
dry, high acidity, high tannins, high abv, full body, complex, velvety. Ready to drink but will keep years ahead.
