Monday, November 21, 2022 - Tasting at Carter in Calistoga -- our host did a great job and generously presented much of the lineup. No sign of smoke taint in any of the wines. The Carter Carter was one of two wines I admired at the tasting for its restraint, energy and actually tasted very different from the rest of the lineup. Red fruited and lacking the overt sweetness that many present upon entry. The finish was long and lively. Mouthfeel showed plenty of viscosity without being heavy. Nice complexity at an early age. Not quite as good as some past vintages but a standout in 2020.
