Sunday, November 27, 2022 - Popped and poured in celebration of my buddies very positive MRI. In the glass, the 2003 Tarlant “La Matinale” shows a burnished gold color with a moderate moose. On the nose, initially there is a bit of a butter scotch thing…but there’s also a good amount of fruit and what’s there has a surprising freshness to it. Apples, golden, raspberries, brioche and citrus fruits with white peaches well. On the palate, the fruit set was confirmed. The fruit was even more fresh than the nose would have suggested, and there remained quite a bit of effervescence that was really lovely. I suspected that this would continue to liven up over time and sure enough, it did. No doubt, the tremendous acid has given this the lift necessary. Fantastic showing from such an extreme vintage. Disgorged 10/2016 (12 years on lees 😵‍💫); zero dosage.
