Sunday, December 4, 2022 - Wow, this young third level from Bodegas Alto Moncayo is really special !!
Perfect cork after easily removed. Consumed over two days, fruit more predominant on the first day. Softened depth and integrated complexity on day two. Deep dark ruby color with no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of cherry, plums, and sweet spice with flavors of black cherry, fig, blackberry, balsamic, chocolate, and a long pleasing finish. A very balanced and flavorful Grenache from Campo de Borja. This age worthy wine with many more years of life left. Great fruit from vines between 30 and 50 years old aged in barrels for 16 months. A very good winemaking effort.
