Doft av russin, vanilj och mineral, mogna björnbär. Smak: syra och bär, inte mkt tannin, mogen och lång eftersmak. Fantastisk till lammsadel och gnocchi sallad.

2 hour decant. Nose: earthy, blackberries, cinnamon, oak spices, strawberries. Palate: red fruits, pepper, damp earth, charred oak, medium + acidity, medium + tannins, tangy cherry fruit and spice finish.

Uncork the bottle 1 hour in advance. It is 15.5% alcohol but drinkong very soft. Delicious blackberries, plums, cherries. Well balanced. The condition will improve with longer breathing time.

Lovely plum purple colour. On the nose I get chocolate, black forest cake with all the trimmings. On the palate, quite bold plum and blackberry fruit flavours dominate with some tobacco and leather type flavours adding interest and complexity. Long satisfying finish. Well made wine that should improve with a few extra years of cellaring. Yeah this is an excellent wine for the price and will be getting more if on special at Dans. Little negative is the slight lack of integration of the heavy alcohol.

this is a leg up on other acclaimed grenacha...more plush and robust with nice integrated tannins...first one I had was amazing, then my palate got bored with the other bottles, now appreciating this again.

As far as flavors go, I largely agree with @Tapati0, but I disagree on the conclusion. For me, the three big elements—alcohol, tannins, and fruit—were fighting against each other, rather than melding in harmony. It’s a big bomber of a wine (15.5 octane, with soft but very grippy tannins) that felt like a sledgehammer on my tongue. Not my cup of tea.

Medium Ruby. Smells of cherry, Raspberry, oak, leather, lemon, cassis. Low acidity, grippy intense tannins in the front are followed by dark, sweet fruit blended with forest floor and mushrooms with Bordeaux style sweetness. Elegant complexity, as bitterness and thyme balance the finish. Drinks in 3 chapters: tannin punch, dark fruit sweetness, and bitter end. Curious to taste again in 5-10 years.

this got less enjoyable, the more bottles I had...very open, refined, and grand structure with nice multi-layering...but granacha loses something--strawberry, raspberry, sour cherry...

Started with a 30 min decant. Nose begins with floral violet and red fruit, gives way to some oak and soil. Acidic palate with fine tannins showing more cedar and tobacco. Really like this wine.

Wow, this young third level from Bodegas Alto Moncayo is really special !! Perfect cork after easily removed. Consumed over two days, fruit more predominant on the first day. Softened depth and integrated complexity on day two. Deep dark ruby color with no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of cherry, plums, and sweet spice with flavors of black cherry, fig, blackberry, balsamic, chocolate, and a long pleasing finish. A very balanced and flavorful Grenache from Campo de Borja. This age worthy wine with many more years of life left. Great fruit from vines between 30 and 50 years old aged in barrels for 16 months. A very good winemaking effort.

amazing wine--might be the best granacha I've had, but I would say that comes from a lower starting point...this one is grand, elegant, lengthy--raspberry, sour cherry, dark strawberry....well-balanced

Medium purple/ruby color. Big body. Medium plus acidity. Medium tannin texture. Big oak presence (Could be American oak). Scents of cedar, sweet tobacco, violet and hibiscus. Powerful fruit of blackberry, black currant, and raspberry. Ripe, but serious and dry. Mocha and non-sweet chocolate in midpalate with some rosemary, pine needle note. Finishes with leather, licorice and clove. Some hotness toward the finish (not that bothersome).
This wine showcases some serious and dark side of Grenache (Garnacha).

Doesn't say Ringland on the bottle, but think he's still involved. Something deep and potentially chocolatey great in the finish but a bit horrid on the journey there

Med+ to deep ruby. Med+ to pronounced aromas of black plum, ripe red cherry, vanilla, milk chocolate and sweet baking spices from 16 mos. in French and American oak. Dry but quite fruit-forward, with med acidity, med tannins and high alcohol. Very enjoyable, full-bodied, rich, New World style Grenache. It was an excellent accompaniment to a wide variety of savory and spicy tapas and Cajun cuisine. Drinking well now and not likely to improve with further aging.

As advertised, a big bomb garnacha. Loaded with stewed black fruit - blackberry and plum. If you poke around long enough you might find vanilla, dried strawberry, pepper and some mild herbs - thyme maybe. Acid and tannin are minimal so if you like structure, might be too fleshy for you. The bold fruit balances out the high alcohol. A crowd-pleaser and good party wine, if a bit ordinary. Good with grilled lamp chops.
Drink now.

That smells just a touch like VA and raisins. Not crazy but there. And then rosemary and evergreen. And with some weight in there as well. Its big. Quite big. And not for me at $35 but here it is.

I've been enjoying Spanish Garnacha lately and in general wines with bold red fruit. This wine is rich and intense, dried red cherry, dried spices, tobacco, smoke, dried flowers.

Quand même une impression de sucre résiduel. C’est très gourmand et complexe. Beaucoup de saveur, malgré une matière plus souple et des tanins discrets. Ça fait grand public, mais c’est très bon!

Dark minus purple. Lovely right out of the bottle, but better after 2 hour decant. Maybe could have used more time. Dark berries, vanilla, cinnamon and fairly viscous. Good with 12 month manchego and Midnight Moon.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, black currant (cassis) and raisin. It tastes like blackberry, black currant (cassis), prune, oak and sandalwood. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Belle rondeur et d'une puissance comme les espagnoles savent le faire. De tres beaux aromes de terre humide, de fruits noirs avec une touche de cacao. Belle recommendation. Accompagne une belle pièce de viande rouge grillé

Alto Moncayo is such a treat. It completely develops upon decanting it for 2hrs, going from very acidic to softer very approachable flavours.
Starting the olfactory dance with oak, cherry, vanilla, blackberry and leather notes, then follows lavender, violet, plum and smoke on the palate, for a mid-long finish down the hatch with licorice and cream!
Well balanced, full-bodied wine that definitely takes you off the beaten path.

Pour amateur de vin facile et bonbons. Le premier verre montre du fruit à profusion. Le côté Welch et vanillé prend trop de place, pour la subtilité on repassera mais c`est évident que c`est un crowd pleasur, ce n`est plus pour moi cependant.
