Sunday, December 4, 2022 - This is hewing much closer to Haut-Bailly's traditional proportions than the last several vintages have. It combines snappy red and black toned berries with some lightly smoky aromatics and some old-style dry skin tannin that gives it a firm shell even though it's fine grained. It is fairly reserved and not offering up a great preview of what it might have to offer, but it does have that lithe figure that made Haut-Bailly distinctive for so long, so hopefully it will turn into a nice retro-style HB as it develops.
