-- decanted 2.5 hrs before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over 2 - 3 hrs -- -- 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot --
NOSE: ripe red/purple fruit mix, leaning stony blackberry; little bit oaky (but not too much); stony element is moderate; spot of cooked raspberries.
COLOR: violet-blood red color of great depth.
TASTE: tannic, with lots of ripe and even soft dark fruit; some pyrazine noticeable; medium acidity; little smoky edge; excellent wine that is drinkable now, but I'll be holding my other bottles for a good chunk of years before checking-in again.

(56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot).

Picked up a few of these for £75…incredible qpr. Beautiful floral aroma and loads of ripe cherry, black fruit and smoke on the palette. Classical structure. Relativily accessible. Full bodied but beautifully balanced. Some great value to be found in Bordeaux atm and I’m loving the return of more elegant style.

What a great wine, decanted for about 5 hours and was not lacking in the black fruit department and has super soft tannins. What a awesome wine! Great QPR, pick some up if you get the chance and give it a try.

Absolutely astounding. Decanted for five hours. Depth and lithe - the perfect match. Length and a multitude of layers, with microfiber tannins. Typical of the vintage, there’s body and acidity. Blackberries, cassis, warm rocks, gravel pit, flower shop and cedar. The expansiveness and finesse are the most addictive. Better than the angelic ‘16, and a vin that enhances any cellar, this is my favorite from here. Drink 2026 -.

Bordeaux vs. Napa 101 (Bobby Vans 54th Street (Thanks Danny!)): Decanted 4 hours with another 4 hours back in the bottle. Highly structured with fresh acids with dark red and black fruit hiding with some tobacco. All balanced and poised. More savory and will evolve in that manner. Try next one in 10 years and I'd like to see this in 15. Now that I think about it, a good large format wine that will go some distance.

There's structure here with big lifted acidity, as well as restrained ripe cherry fruit. Some mineral and graphite notes . Not a wine of heft or depth, but really got more enjoyable each day I drank it over the course of three days.

On the nose, a faint hint of oak, nothing distracting, menthol for some reason, dark fruits, but that went away after a few hours, spice, smoky. On the palate, balance, fresh, acidity complements the big tannin. Body and length. Very old world. For sub $100 all in, this wine delivers QPR!

I always tend to find Haut Bailly quite cloaked, withdrawn and brooding, and I find it requires much more time than many Bordeaux - typically only really opening up properly after 15 years, but the '19 vintage is generally strangely approachable and this too was approachable. I got a six pack so tried one. Has the typical haut-couture house style, but the tannins are still soft in this youthful phase. Rated more for potential, but still very attractive. Held up quite well on day #3; classy and shrouded dark fruit, but obviously too young.

This is hewing much closer to Haut-Bailly's traditional proportions than the last several vintages have. It combines snappy red and black toned berries with some lightly smoky aromatics and some old-style dry skin tannin that gives it a firm shell even though it's fine grained. It is fairly reserved and not offering up a great preview of what it might have to offer, but it does have that lithe figure that made Haut-Bailly distinctive for so long, so hopefully it will turn into a nice retro-style HB as it develops.

Union des Grands Crus: The 2019 Haut Bailly has an interesting mesquite element that I like, complementing black cherry and graphite aromas. This is fresh but rich on the nose and seriously tannic on the palate. 94-95

Very good to excellent. A standout Haut Bailly that is well balanced and terroristic with notes of cedar, tobacco, and dry loam. Light footed and elegant. Lengthy warm finish. HOLD_
At Sotheby’s UGC 2019 vintage tasting at Cipriani NYC Midtown. Out of the 50+ wines I sampled this was WOTN. Immediately stood out with its aromatic nose, immense, brooding structure, loads of concentrated dark berries, encased in a velvety mouthfeel. 30-45 second finish. Tremendous young and has the stuff to go 2 decades here. Buyer.
UGC NY; 6/28/2022-6/29/2022: Want to re-taste this wine. Good transparent red fruit with density, good balance, nothing out of place. Not owning the wine, I bought some after this quick taste. 92-94.

Incredibly rich, lush, powerful, full-bodied and concentrated, as well as poised, balanced, and harmonious and fresh, the wine opens with an array of flowers, tobacco leaf, currants, black plums, espresso, smoke and herbs. Vibrant, seductive, long and complex, the wine is a beautiful expression of the vineyard with all of its complexities and nuances. It should drink a bit earlier than the 2015, 2016 and 2018. But it will still need time in the cellar. Drink from 2030-2060.

98 vvPunkte (56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot. Verkostet am 6. Dezember in Windisch).

2027-2045+, 96-98/100 vvPunkte vvWine.ch

Dark ruby in color, with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, cigar box, tobacco, smoke, herbs and ripe, sweet, fresh red fruits. Silky, sexy and seductive, with a long, sensuous palate, feel and presence, this is a beautiful expression of the vineyard. It should drink a bit earlier than the 2015, 2016 and 2018. But it will still need time in the cellar. The harvest took place September 23 - October 10. The wine is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot reaching 13.7 alcohol with a pH of 3.7. The Grand Vin was produced from 50% of the harvest. 96-98 Pts
